Hi I was just wondering for fun and a bit of fact finding when I visited the Gloucester Warwickshire steam railway about 2 stations on this line moved from other closed railways like the down station buildings at Winchcombe originally from Monmouth Troy and a closed station on the disused section of the G.W.S.R. at Weston sub Edge down platform building rebuilt at Carrog, and my local heritage line the keighley and worth valley railway Ingrow West rebuilt from Foulridge from the Skipton to colne line. Can any other members on rail U.K. forums think of any more to turn this into a discussion?

I believe that the station building at Totnes Littlehempston on the South Devon Railway came from Toller on the Maiden Newton-Bridport branch.

The Nene Valley is rebuilding the Wansford Road station building at Peterborough.
Didcot Railway Centre is rebuilding the station building from Heyford on their demonstration line (albeit the station it came from is still open).

Oxford Rewley Road is now at Quainton Road, though it was closed to passengers long before Beeching.

Didn't the current footbridge at Alresford also come from North Tawton in Devon?

I think Ropley has the original North Tawton footbridge, while Alresford has the one from Uckfield and Medstead has the one from Cowes.

Pretty sure there’s also some bits of Okehampton incorporated into the restaurant at Alresford and then there’s the old Kings Cross footbridge at Ropley at the Alton end of the site.

There’s also signal boxes from various places too?

The station at Somersham Cambs (closed 1967) and the building and part of the platform from the nearby Bourne End station have been rebuilt at the Fawley Hill railway

Wootton Signal Cabin on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway has had many locations in its history. First constructed for the FYNR station at Newport it was later moved to Freshwater station. When the station closed it was moved across the road and used as a bus shelter. Eventually recovered by the IWSR, it was initially installed alongside the run round loop to control the points. It has now been installed on the platform and controls both points and signals.

The Castle Headingham station on the Colne Valley Railway is the original Sible and Castle Headingham station moved from the original station site to the preserved railway and rebuilt. The new site is about a mile north of the original site.

The North Norfolk Railway Holt station building was moved from Stalham.

Stalham closed in 1959, before Beeching.

The waiting shelter at Glyndyfrdwy on the Llangollen Railway was formerly the shed foreman's office at Northwich shed. The lever frame in the signal box at Deeside Loop came from Northwich Central Cabin. The signal box at Glyndyfrdwy came from Leaton on the Shrewsbury-Chester line.

The miniature lever frame in Porthmadog Harbour signal box came from Darlington South.

Yes Ropley has the former North Tawton footbridge. Only knew myself watching a video on the Okehampton line yesterday.

Does anyone know what happened to the trainshed roof from London Bridge? IIRC it was headed for Aberystwyth.

According to Nicholas & Reeve the station building which was at Newton St Cyres was second hand from the built but never used Cowley Bridge station.

An open and closed example. Strathspey Railway opened Aviemore Speyside station using parts of the Dalnaspidal station. When operations moved to platform 3 of the mainline station in Aviemore, Speyside was closed and later the building was moved elsewhere.

The Aviemore Speyside footbridge, recovered from Longmorn, was retired from its second home too as it was no longer needed.

I believe one of the station buildings on the Battlefield Line was the Humberstone Road Station building in Leicester on the Midland Main Line.
