Hi mate, so here’s the exact timescale of my application process:

- I applied for the job (Senior Conductor) on 08/05/2026

- Assessments sent out to me on 28/05/2026 and completed on 30/05/2026 (2 days later)

- Email inviting me to interview sent to me on 17/06/2026

- Interview completed on 25/06/2026

- Email confirming my success and job offer on 30/06/2026

- Medical completed on 10/07/2026

I officially start on 14/09/2026

It’s worth checking your spam & junk folders if you already haven’t. If nothing is there I would advise contact WMT or the OPC

Congratulations! That is an insane turn around from Application to Start date! Fastest I've experienced from Application to Talent Pool is 4 months, just a waiting game now

I have just passed my medicals on the 16/07.
They also have done all the checks they were supposed to do.
After your medicals did you got any more information about where we are supposed to go on the 14/09?

Hi,

Im due to start 17/08.

I hadn't had any more info after the checks so I emailed them last week to make sure everything was in place before I handed my notice in.

They replied saying I'd hear from the training team a few weeks before my start date and get a travel pass a few days before.

If you aren't starting until the middle of September I doubt you'll hear anything until the end of August/ Start of September

So I emailed them and they confirmed I passed the assessments.

Apparently all 2026 courses are fully subscribed so they'll recontact me regarding the next stage for 2027.

Good I’m glad to hear. Well done.

If you already haven’t, you will receive your medical date via email. I had my medical just outside Edgbaston.

They will test your eyesight (near and far), colourblindness test, hearing test, blood pressure test & drug and alcohol test.

As far as the roster, I’m aware it’s a week of early shifts, then a week of late shifts (on repeat). I believe it’s 4 days on, 3 days off.

I think we work 36 hours per week, but overtime is available. The overtime rate is time and a quarter or time and a half , I forgot what the man said.

The roster is fixed.

RD = Rest Day.
WD = Work Day.

Week 1 - Mon RD Tue RD Wed WD Thu WD Fri WD Sat WD
Week 2 1 Mon WD Tue WD Wed RD Thu RD Fri WD Sat WD
Week 3 - Mon WD Tue WD Wed WD Thu WD Fri RD Sat RD Sun RD.

Sundays come around fairly randomly. They are never in middle of long weekend (Week 3 rolling back into Week 1).

Time 1/4 Mon - Fri RDW
Time 1/2 Sat RDW
Time 1/2 Sun All Sundays and RDW.
