  • Off-Peak Day Travelcards: use from 09:30 (Monday to Friday), anytime on weekends or bank holidays for the date on the ticket and for journeys starting before 04:30 the next day
Can I hop on a train before 0430, like the 0410 Stansted Express, and use the benefits of a previous day travelcard with a boundary zone ticket, even if the boundary is reached much after 0430?

I think your journey within the Travelcard boundary would have to start by 0429.

I can't see a day with an 0410 service, but the 0400 on 12/09/2026 should be fine.

How do you come up with a question like this?

Boundary Zone ticket restrictions apply from the point where you switch over to using that ticket i.e. when the train you are on passes the boundary station (even if it doesn't stop there). You interpret them in the context of that time and that station.

So "Not valid on trains timed to depart after 04:29" means the time it is scheduled to pass the boundary station.
The boundary station is Turkey Street. The previous timing point is Bury St Junction (XSG) at 0426 and the next one (closer to Turkey St) is Cheshunt at 0432 (with engineering allowance?)

So I think that question sits right on the boundary and in reality you'd have to get the benefit of the doubt (evaluated at the previous published timing point).

I still can't see any days with an 0410 service. Where are these times coming from? The OP suggested the boundary would be reached much later.

Ah. I read it that they were coming the other way.
If the journey starts within the zones then all it needs to do is start by 0429. It doesn't matter what time the boundary is passed.

(I was answering for the off-peak boundary zone ticket, arguing I think it would have to be accepted. The Anytime one has no time restrictions so isn't a problem of course - and still offers a saving.)

Both would only be valid only for journeys starting before 0430.
