Im pretty sure its down to how high candidates scored also as those who scored high get in quicker. Thats not gospel, just what ive learnt from the forums :/
When you say scored high, which part of the recruitment do you mean? I know with MMI for example it's either pass or fail.

They did mention on the email we would hear either way so fingers crossed for you, have you contacted them?
Fingers crossed, the fact people that did receive the email are being placed into training is a positive sign.
We would probably be in training ourselves if there were more dedicated spots to Hex drivers but it is what it is.
We’ve done the hard part, all we can do is wait for now.

Last paddington applications were december last year, aswell as Reading and Oxford the same time. I believe we/they are either on DMI stage or have completed DMI recently and awaiting on a course start date. Overall on average it about 14 or so months from application to role start from what ive gauged on here. Its a long process but completely worth it in the end

Ahhh I see. I applied in June and did my video interview on Monday with previously completed OPC+MMI so wondering where that places me in the queue. Hopefully they consider me in the next batch of DMIs.

If youve completed both OPC and MMI, I would of thought that would of been next. Your best bet would be to contact your recruitment and ask them

I was ithe same position with another TOC and I went straight to DMI. What you need to be careful with tho is you might have passed the test but you might not have passed it to GWR standard and they might ask you take the test again and if you fail it will override your previous pass

Applied for Reading depot in December.
Video interview in Jan, be sure to do this asap as it’s first recorded first screened basis.
Had my first assessment centre in may.
Had my MMI in June.
And DMI in September.
So all in all from start to finish 9months, the dmi could have been sooner but I was moving house so I chose a later date.
As for answering questions, the MMI is good but intense I chose to use this as a friendly chat, keeping it light they want to see your personality shine, use the STAR method.
most importantly you have to reiterate how safety focused, process driven and how you can follow strict policy, the good thing about it is that you are given 6 questions on a piece of paper and you basically write one or two sentences on there, use this time to pre order and think of how you are going to structure your scenarios while writing them, once started a the interviewer will try to distract you with questions while you’re talking or interrupt you refer to something for you to clarify this is to see how well you can get back on topic after answering the question, and most importantly reflection, if you can a risk a procedure a safe outcome and a reflection to each of your scenarios you’ll smash it.
As for the DMI they’ll want the same as the MMI, plus they’ll definitely ask a few questions about the TOC you’ve applied for, I just did some quick research about the values the direction the company was going, what areas they covered and what trains were used but they don’t want you to know everything about the TOC.

Do not be fooled into thinking the DMI is a chat to see if you tried. It is a job interview by one of the depot managers to gauge whether you would be a good fit at the depot. Yes they ask about the company etc but you are being assessed at the same time.
Yes this is correct, I have edited my post to reflect its importance, In terms of trying I meant that you don’t need to know everything about the TOC just show you’ve done your research.
