YES. This drives me WILD every time. When I’m paying to travel I don’t want to hear them yelling down my ear.

It bothers me more because even a call on hands free is proven to affect driving safety. If I am paying someone to drive me, I rightly expect my (and their own) safety to be the only consideration.

No because people in the South West don't have an inferiority complex about where they come from, unlike the northern provinces of England.

I think you’ll find that it’s a superiority complex. Especially in people from Yorkshire……..

I wonder whether LNER will ever offer that in first class?....either as a Signature dish, or a miniature version for the Dish menu.(Only on the Middlesbrough service of course! )

What puzzles me is that I see ads for LNER on my TV advising me to travel from London to the North East and vice versa.
I live as far as it's possible from the North East.
When I do go to the North (That's Beyond Bristol for me), I need subtitles to understand half of what people are saying.
Regarding people talking or not talking on trains, These days everyone seems to have these noise cancelling headphone in their ears so a conversation is actually impossible even if you wanted to talk to a stranger.

How nice it is to live in the North where the neighbours take my bins in and trim my hedge, rather than in Essex where they swore at me and were raided by the police for selling dodgy DVDs!

When I do go to the North (That's Beyond Bristol for me), I need subtitles to understand half of what people are saying.

I had to use subtitles recently on a podcast hosted by 2 (white) Londoners speaking in that modern "bruv, u sayin? nahhh no way bruhh" style of speech. Sounded half drunk, slurring their words. And I'm a southerner.

Bad speech isn't a north-south divide though IMO

Mad that though because when I lived "up north" I had a neighbour done for dealing drugs, whereas down here my lovely old Irish neighbour Margaret takes in my parcels and will even put my bin out if I'm away.

Almost as if there are good and bad in all parts!

Aye, well, we don't really consider Middlesbrough to be proper North Yorkshire anyway. Mumble mumble Teesside *inaudible* summat Cleveland grumble Ben Houchen. You get the idea.

As a Mancunian I have never really got the the myth that Londoner's can be rude. Some are but you find that in most cities. The last time I got on a bus in London I ended up talking to a local for about 20 minutes. I was confused about the bus route was due to be diverted towards Euston so asked this local who was sat behind me. It turns out I was correct about the route it would take and he was wrong. He was then telling me his life story of how he is a bus driver (but for a different company than the bus we were on) which made the situation more funny.

This.as a born and bred Southerner I have never found any difference between North and South ,both have good and bad regarding friendliness ,it's a myth, I reckon! along with all Southerners are loaded ,the worse car drivers are in the south and beer up North is superior ,I think you lot up North must suffer from an inferior complex

While there are friendly and grumpy people all over the country, based on my experience when I used to travel a lot for work (basically from Thurso to Plymouth) the ratio does differ considerably between more northern and southern parts.
