Dorchester to Birmingham

I am searching for trips to Birmingham using SWR and Cross Country.

Apps all show a change at Southampton Central, but I'd rather join the Birmingham train at it's origin, Bournemouth.

Can I book the fare offered, it's not split ticketing, and join the train at Bournemouth rather than Southampton?

(I'm using my phone but can't seem to force it to present a change at Bournemouth)

Have you tried Trainsplit / the forum ticketing site?
Unless there's some feature that other apps offer (which Trainsplit doesn't) that could be relevant here, it's worth trying it out as you can select a forced change at Bournemouth (and exclude changes at Southampton) using the extra options button, which should bring up the itinerary you need.
