Although full contingency is not practical I do wonder if the Ability to run a service to Amersham might be practical, this would provide alternatives for London.

Signalling around Aylesbury is also controlled from Marylebone. Up trains disappear onto TfL just north of Amersham, then reappear on the IECC screens just south of Harrow-on-the-Hill.

Yes, the boundary at the south being somewhere between ME27 and JB1, on the down. JB40 and ME26, on the up.
Boundary at the northern end being at Pipers Wood (between Mantles Wood and Great Missenden).
Signal control between Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway (outside of the LUL infrastructure) sits with Marylebone South and North workstations resident in the Marylebone Station IECC.
