I just don’t know why they didn’t retain Julie Berry as on the Class 387s and Class 700s.

It could be because Julie Berry is reaching the point where retirement is approaching, although that wouldn’t explain why they couldnt or didn’t utilise files from the other fleets.

As for the comments about political views, I’m not sure it’s particularly wise to be bringing this into the discussion. She is widely acknowledged to be expert and experienced in the field of producing high-quality announcements, hence why she has been so heavily used by the transport industry over very many years. The announcements used on the 379s are nowhere near as well constructed. Political views have no bearing on someone’s ability to record announcements, so changing a voice for this reason is cutting nose off to spite face territory.
