EMR to introduce reduced Inter City service from Monday 20th July

Are there any stats to support the claim that the service was indeed stabilised?
This is St Pancras to Leicester off recent train times daily summary of all services. How much is down to the trains and how much infrastructure etc isn't known but it does indicate a modest improvement. I would have thought they are looking for more consistency but have another two weeks to fettle the units. The RMT strike must also be buying them a bit of extra train downtime if they've got the mtce resources. Are they also holding back on anymore 810s and now focusing on 222's?

Could the underlying reason be to make it easier to introduce more 810s into service? Avoids the problem of ensuring that allocation to a diagram doesn't involve coupling to another diagram being worked by the other class .
There seems little reason not to introduce more under the current timetable as there are so few couplings happening. It would mean it's harder to revert to the full timetable however.

How trivial is it to reform the 222s? I have read there is at least one off long term with a damaged cab, could three intermediate vehicles be released to strengthen other units? If there were 4 such units, that means 6 others could go to 7 car and be diagrammed on the peak workings.

That was 222011, which is back in service now. All other sets have seen use in the past few days, apart from 103/104. I know 104 is off lease, does anybody know if 103 has followed?

I was watching for '103 as it seemed to be the next to go, and was in the siding at the London end of Etches Park where off-lease units have congregated. It has had an occasional outing since but usually resulting in failure - quite often en route on its first passenger journey. Not been on RTT for a few weeks now. Might be just the 'last resort' unit.

222103 is in service today, first time I've seen it in a long while, currently on NOT-STP jobs

Had a quick look at RTT for the last couple of days and it does look like EMR have pulled themselves together and run all the IC (and Connect) trains they had said they would with no obvious cancellations at the London end and I didn't spot any very late running either. Connect seems to be all back to 8 cars now too.

This does hopefully bode well for the slightly stepped up timetable next week which - for instance - restores 1732 and 1932 London-Sheffield, that were deleted.

However (and I think I may have already made this point), the sudden improvement also correlates quite closely with the arrival of cooler weather. If I were a very cynical railway manager, and I knew a lot of issues were heat-related, I might also feel quite confident about improvements as summer turns to autumn without actually having changed any of the basics.

So the obvious question that perhaps the railway journalists and politicians on the route should be posing to EMR (and perhaps Lord Hendy) is what assurances they are prepared to give that the the train service will not drop off a cliff again next summer?

Mutterings internally suggest that the likelihood of this is decreasing, but I'd assume other options will be explored
The 810s seemed to have settled down to 6-7 out per day so they ought to concentrate on getting more into traffic. Reliability improvements can run in parallel.
