One bogie derailed on one coach at Wickford and it takes 12 days to reopen the railway. Three carriages derailed at Lewes and it takes 19 days to reopen the railway. After the Harrow & Wealdstone crash in 1952 all six lines were open just 4 days later! After the Polmont accident in 1984 the lines were reopened after just 2 days!
Both these accidents had significantly more damage to vehicles and infrastructure than at Wickford or Lewes.
