I'm planning on travelling first class via East Coast at the end of the month and although I'd prefer an individual seat, there's none left for my journey that also have a power socket...at least, when I hover over seats in coach J on the East Coast booking system, all it "boasts" about the seats is the direction of travel.

So my second preference would be a single table seat (i.e. facing A.N. Other). But I was wondering, is the table between those type of seats big enough for me to put my laptop on (slightly bigger than an A4 sheet of paper) without impeding on whomever is opposite me? Also, when the system says "power socket", does that mean one each?

Thanks in advance.

You should have no problems putting your laptop on the table without impeding anybody else. Tables are quite big.
As for sockets. Cant remember.

It's possible you might get the emt hst set, However that has enough plugs, and large tables, so should be fine.

Ic70 seats too, if you prefer them to mallard seats :)

Hmm...well, I've bought my ticket on the basis of FC having WiFi and plugs, so I'd like to think that if it doesn't, I could kick up a fuss!

I've never seen the EMT set in my neck of the woods (Dundee), mind you.

Normally it is on the Lincoln service so depends where you are travelling to/from. Shouldn't be a problem from Dundee.

Not East Coast Wi-Fi, therefore it will not be in operation.

If you are seated in an individual First Class seat then there should be a plug below the table that serves both laptop and mobile phone charging. Wi-Fi is free, the connections speeds have been quite good in my expierence and all you need to do is connect to the EC Network, create an account (takes a few minutes and most) and you'll be in. If you go Standard Class you will only recieve free Wi-Fi for 15 minutes. Remember your EC log in details so you can use them in the future if you go with East Coast again.

Even if you are not in an individual seat the tables are good size and you'll have a lot of room. Not that it matters, because the ratio of Standard to First Class passengers is rather heavy on the Standard side (look when you come into the stations, there will be loads of people, but hardly any will get on in FC).
