Multiple lineside fires. The 47 is back out in place of the Standard 4.

I'm back at home!

Does anyone know when 47715 is set to depart the KWVR? I assume its staying until 20031 is repaired.

I also noticed that the catering elements had been split between two trains to ease the load.
The public catering offer is always on the "second" set (starting the day with a diesel, and non-corridor) as it requires 3 vehicles if the Pullman is used; a private hire will always be on the "main" set.
The double-heading between Haworth and Oxenhope is standard.

Always entertaining to get a steam plus diesel combo as a result. Plus you get the illusion that a steam loco has come to the rescue of a failed diesel, as with my photo posted earlier.

That’s great news, there’s a good chance I pay a visit for that :)

Not quite a diesel gala, but the 47 and 14 will be in action this weekend.

Sadly, it seems that 45212 will not be returning to the mainline with Riley and Sons, and the locomotive will soon be moving back to Haworth

Good news for the KWVR: they need a larger loco in traffic and I'm sure it will draw in a few enthusiasts visiting for a bit of variety or fans of the class.

However, it’s uncertain if it will return to steam, 90733 is supposed return either towards the end of this year or start of next year

It returns to the KWVR with no boiler ticket and in need of overhaul.

And with no existing plan, funds or schedule to overhaul it - so if it does get overhauled it will be a long way in the future - there are already a number of projects underway which will need to be completed first.

The loss of 45212 causes a loss in an income source, and leaves the railway without another ‘Black 5’ over the festive season

Can always just put the Std 2 on the front with the Class 14 assisting from the rear I imagine to give the Standard 4 a break.
Indeed, with that method of operation being standard the Elf Explorer isn't as crucial. Mince Pie Specials and Beer and Music are more complicated.

I think that spectacle would shift a few tickets!

With diesel assistance you could still put the Green Dragon or 2MT Tank on the front.

The returning WD Austerity or Class 47 or 20 could also be options.
The Advent traffic is top and tailed anyway to squeeze in an extra coach.

The 2MT isn't mega powerful anyway is it? Hence the need for a diesel on the back, and why the 8F was hired in last year to cover the Railway Children stuff, as otherwise the 4MT is the best they've got.

the diesel is on the back of the festive specials because there are too many coaches for the locomotive to run round

That's a fair comment, but my point was rather that people often assume those 2MTs are more powerful than they are because they're a tender engine, but they actually have a similar tractive effort to a Hunslet 16" (as per Newstead, Ring Haw or Beatrice) and significantly less than say an Austerity tank.

Tractive effort is OK so far as it goes, but a larger boiler and firebox will make the Class 2 engines much more potent, particularly on lines with severe gradients such as the KWVR
