Everyone would like a railtour to rake up at their local station and go where they want to go, have the traction they wish for and be in the right price range but to satisfy everyone would be against the odds. I've only ever caught a railtour once that fitted the bill from my local station Reading. Other times l've stayed in a b&b or hotel or driven to the starting point. I know some areas don't get a look in but that's the nature of the beast. Plus getting expensive to do that nowadays.

Just to bump this one up. After yesterday's 89 failure at Warrington on the Avocet Achievement tour meant a curtailment at Carlisle with the 90 on rescue duties have had an email from LSL/Intercity to offer a free rerun on 7th October or a full refund.

Bravo to them for sorting so quickly. These things can't be helped, but maybe double head it next time so the 90 is there anyway!

We're there many people aboard the train?
Our coach was full of people who got on at Crewe, but there were coaches earmarked for Preston (best part of 90 minutes late by the time we got there) and Carlisle (terminated there, so no chance for them to travel) guests which were empty or largely empty. Would say train was 40% full or so at a guess.

Would be a lot busier during the weekend

Yes indeed that was the rumour just as we got off at crewe, I too congratulate them for sorting it out quick, they could have sat behind t&c's and said we ran something so there you go, but they have impressed me with the quick re run

I think if they had not offered any refund or re run, they’d lose a few customers and maybe even worse

Nice for them to do this, LSL probably don't break even overall with what they do even if some of the more fancy branded tours can become pricey. Was on the Bristol trip the other week and impressed with the IC experience. Can't make the 89 again but looking fwds to the 37 trip.

Do agree ic is my favourite LSL brand but it’s shame shame that all the interesting tours seem to be on weekdays
