Unpopular opinion but Glasgow doesn’t need anymore second hand Geminis in the form of 18 year old buses.

Glasgow haven't painted a Gemini since 37204 over a year ago. I'm still not certain that 077 and/or 588 will stay but if they will then they will not be seeing the paint room. Just vaults and then straight out.
This is only the case because of their anticipated time left in service. Anything else like the newer Kernow stuff gets painted straight away.
With the next big order looking like stuff for Scotstoun, Caley are going to either have to make do with the Geminis for a while yet or scrounge for stuff down south pronto. Personally, I think some of those 65 plate MMCs should be coming home.

37077 is in current livery anyway
37077 has gone back down, currently tracking on the 501 towards Huddersfield. Regarding the paint job for 37588, I wouldn't be surprised if they leave it as it is tbh, as mentioned above the 'Bristol branding' has stayed on 37590/37600 (FHUD) along with 37587/37591/37594/37603/37604 down at FSYO.. I'm pretty sure some of them still carry the adverts from their Bristol days.. 37738 has also returned to the road for the first time since March, currently on the 5 towards Castlemilk.

I'm sure 37738 has had an Engine transplant out of one of the other Geminis that was finished
I wonder which Gemini the engine’s from? The only ones I can think of which have been withdrawn in the last few months are 37205/37220, could it have possibly come from one of those? 37461 hasn't been on the road since March, same goes for 37221/37549 which were last used towards the back end of May. Any idea what the issue is with them?

Surprised they’ve even bothered bringing that back usually when they’re done they’re done
Here’s my theory. It might be due to it being an 09 plate, and even though the 09s have had a bit more mileage than some of the 07 & 57 plates from the express services days, it’s still more of a ""newer"" bus.

That theory is redundant when theres been 5 of the 09 plates binned from things packing in .
Yeah, but they’ve not fixed any of the older plate ones.

I wonder if there’s any plans for new buses for Caledonia beyond the current Yutong order for Scotstoun. We’ve seen a lot of repowers and I know there are some more due but the remaining B9TLs are ageing as are the E300s with the oldest models turning 15 next year.
Looks like the standard allocations for Geminis have changed, with at least one on every express service this morning bar the X8.
The X25 boards are also fully covered by Geminis.
And that seems to be explained by the fact that there are no Geminis now on the 57 boards.

Couple of Geminis on the 57 today, Think it's to do with youths in Cumbernauld the MMCs have been taken off due to vandalism

37549 & 37187 back on the road again after a wee while
37187 I’m shocked is still going on well, like it’s currently the oldest Gemini in the fleet.

37188, 37193 also join it, They're from the same batch, 37188 is the most reliable out of those 3, 37204 is sat in Blantyre after being out of action for nearly 3 weeks
37188 is still in 61 Livery (despite not being allowed to ever run that route again).

First time in my life so far I’ve seen the “new” buses become the ones being withdrawn! I always liked how gruff the engines sounded at idle on that batch of Geminis

The Geminis interior still look modern vehicles. My opinion they look better to any of the post 2012 stock.
However there at end of there lifespan just about and still being used the entire day.
Still a number of them good machines and will be liked by drivers.
The native 54 plates did have good suspension and were solid. The later B7TLs due to there setup were rather stiff for suspension (similar to B7RLEs) although they could be setup to a nice smooth setting.
The last B7TLs (same as B9s) had the 6 speed Ecolife ZF gearbox and only a small number of them are setup over time to run fast otherwise were slow.
Older 54 plates didn’t have this issue with them all driving pretty much the same. Some would differ but overall the same.

Any B7TL I'm sure after late 2005 into 2006 had the Ecolife boxes, New Volvo dash at the time could be a giveaway then as well

That’s correct was the change of the dash/steering, brakes, suspensions and indeed the ZF Ecolife gearbox on B7TLs.
I remember seeing a Gemini on the 44 in late 2004 and it turned heads as it looked so modern.

Half of the time they aren't even switched on or they just show "Ticketer" on the screen so you can't scan your card. There's even buses kicking about that don't even have them fitted! But to be honest, I wouldn't expect anything less from First Glasgow who seem to do a half arsed job at everything.
