Boundary zone 6 tickets combined with veterans oyster

My partner has a veterans oyster card and commutes occasionally from downham market to kings cross
Someone advised her to get a downham to boundary zone 6 ticket from the ticket office and tap out with her veterans oyster at kings cross

My question is, is this a valid safe journey should she be inspected, my worry is an inspector may say the service runs fast from cambridge and doesnt stop at a boundary zone 6 station/she hasn't tapped in on her veterans oyster.

Any info if this is safe to do or risking prosecution appreciated!

As she won't have tapped in anywhere, then she won't hold a valid ticket between the zone 6 boundary and Kings Cross.

I do similar from SWR land with a 60+ Oyster without any issues - and they seem to be similar products.

I feel the consensus view of the forum's experts (of which I am not one!) is that if the underlying entitlement on the Veterans Oyster is a Travelcard then that's perfectly fine. Hopefully, @MikeWh will know the answer to that.

It depends on what time she is travelling at. The Veterans Oyster card does not provide free travel from the zone 6 boundary (Hadley Wood) until 09.30.

This is not correct. Provided the condition @Haywain mentions is met, it is worth noting that combining tickets including a concessionary pass is specifically mentioned in NRCoT 14.3. The pass will operate the barriers, any question around origin by gate staff would be satisfied by the presence of the boundary zones ticket. The pass is functionally equivalent to a Season or Zonal ticket - it confers unlimited travel within its area of validity subject to its conditions, including the time restriction.

"Unless Condition 14.1 applies, if you are using a Season Ticket, daily Zonal Ticket, or another area based Ticket such as a concessionary pass, ranger, or rover, in conjunction with another Ticket and the last station at which one Ticket is valid and the first station that the other Ticket is valid are the same, then the train does not need to Call at that station for your combination to be valid."
