Air conditioning on London Buses

Not London, but the best air con I’ve experienced is on the Yutong electric single decks that Nottingham have. indoor temp a nice cool 20 degrees despite being 35 degrees outside.

I've seen non ac buses in poorer countries that have cheap electric fans glued to the ceeling. While not ideal it would be better than some of the greenhouses that makes up current London buses

What is the difference between air conditioning and air cooling? In the past I remember seeing TfL FOI requests saying that the difference is whether it also has humidity extraction or not (e.g. FOI at https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transp.../foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-1665-2324) but I don't understand how that would work, I thought air conditioning already alters the humidity due to the difference between relative humidity and absolute humidity, as the air temperature gets colder?

Air cooling doesn't take out moisture

On an air conditioned vehicle, everything is drier, don't get dripping steamed up windows, or damp seats either in cooler and wetter months.
Changing temperature is just one of the functions of a/c

The cooling (when it works) is often poorly ducted and distributed, often it just cools one area, and windows are open bit further away. A token poor effort to keep politicians happy, not actually useful at chilling majority of the seats.

I think I have read the cooling is only specified to dtop temperature about 6-8c. So inadequate whenever temperature reaches 28c (which is dozens of days per year in London)

I see, rhank you. So is air cooling not a refrigerant based system, unlike air conditioning then?

No, the New Bus for London / "New Route aster" originally didn't have opening windows, and they were horrendous.

And the a/c did not function at all - which was the clincher

No, it is a vague term that is used for everything from a proper refrigerant compression system to a swamp cooler or just a fan or anything else in between. That is why it is such a useless term, it has no real meaning.

Think it's because of the strike action that has been called. From listening doesn't sound like people are too favourable of the strikes.
