Looks like it has gone Wembley (IC Depot) -> London on its own, then London -> Wembley Reception Sidings (pathed as pulled by a loco), then through to West Ealing pathed as pulled by a loco, then onto Paddington on its own
bit of a weird routing but I'm sure there's a reason for it.
I assume it's the first time a Pendolino has been to Paddington (and presumably the furthest South a Pendolino has gone for a long time)

They didn’t bother to join the wires up poplars to the WCML so electric traction can’t get from the WCML to the GWML on their own.

Yes I was more wondering about why go to Euston and back instead of putting the loco on at Wembley and going straight round.
I doubt it given Avanti won’t be nationalised until sometime next year

It's definitely still in Avanti livery - certainly made for a weird sight passing Old Oak Common!
There appears to be an IET in platform 8 (800012 from RTT) that's come in on a 3Zxx from North Pole. Presumably part of the same scheme?

There probably is, but it's not going ahead at present. The Poplars electrification was to allow 345s to get round to east London during blockades at Old Oak, which didn't need the Euston connection. Any GWR diversions into Euston are bi-modes or the sleeper with a diesel.
The missing part is probably going to have to be modified if the West London Orbital goes ahead, so there's little point in electrifying it before but it might get done as part of that.

Where is the gap in the electrification between the WCML and GWML? It is presumably possible with a double reverse at Mitre Bridge and Willesden Junction High Level?

That helps to explain why it's the Railway 200 renumbered Pendolino that they've sent over then, thanks for the info.

It was renumbered (or more accurately, additionally numbered - it's still registered as and carries 390016) for The Greatest Gathering at Derby as part of the Railway 200 celebrations last August.

Yes it is theoretically possible up from Acton along the NLL, you'd need to go further East of Willesden Junction though pastKensal Green Junction and find somewhere to reverse there, but I don't know where you'd find a path with time to reverse a pendo there. You're talking at least all the way to Gospel Oak, if not King's Cross or Hornsey. I was referring to the links through Willesden SWS and Acton Wharf to Willesden 7 to Acton Canal Wharf not being electrified.

You can’t even directly get to Kings Cross from the NLL. But I think the Kensal Green Turnback could hold a 9-car Pendolino? That way you don’t block the main line
