Tube Challenge - Help Please?

Hi all,

My friend and I are planning on doing the official tube challenge in the next few weeks (14th August). I’ve been in contact with Guiness World Records but tbh I don’t find their messages super helpful. Was wondering if anyone knew how I can go about finding an independent witness to be the official timekeeper for the challenge? Or indeed if anyone knows anyone, or would be willing to help us themselves? We would be willing to pay.

There are several threads about (or related to) the Tube Challenge (use the search function), which include links to other fora. Probably worth reviewing for advice, etc.

On the specific issue of GWR requirements, my instant thought is that - unless you've had some experience and are reasonably confident that you do have a chance of beating the record - they're not worth bothering about - just keep enough of a record to justify whatever bragging you might feel like, and enjoy the satisfaction of achieving what you manage to achieve.

As someone who's done an augmented version of it before (and nearly destroying my feet in the process), don't bother with GWR unless you're actually attempting for the record, which you're almost certain not to get on your first attempt. It's too much paperwork for something unlikely at this stage. Just enjoy the time and just see if you can first beat it before aiming for a personal best, let alone world record, which is what I did on my attempts.

Guinness rules are difficult, and having to pay for it feels kind of against the spirit.

Unless you're set on going through their requirements and fees, I'd recommend recording it for transitruns, just make sure all your connections are recorded and it's clear you're on the same train at the start and end of each cut (e.g. a carriage number in shot).

From the Speedrun Rules, the evidence requirements are point 8:

8. An acceptable key piece of evidence must follow the standards below:

Your evidence must allow us to retrace your entire route. It must make all segments clear (which lines and stations were used at which times).
Examples of acceptable evidence include:
Video recordings of parts of the run, especially at key nodes (transfer points); or
Photos with unmodified digital timestamps taken at stations.
When using photo or video evidence, we recommend including footage where the stopwatch and local time (such as from a departure board or clock) are visible, especially at transfer points.
Photo and video evidence must make it very clear which station you are at, such as by showing a station sign, an information screen aboard the vehicle, a clip with an audible announcement, or other identifying features.

Well the 14th has passed, i wonder how they got on?
