Is there an OFFICIAL database and maps for rover tickets?

I’m currently using a South Pennines Day Ranger and already I’ve had problems, I know the Rover site but I often find errors. Is there an official map I can show if I get any more trouble?

This thread has come in handy; was thinking (using railcard and Manchester bus/train pass) Victoria>Huddersfield>Hebden Bridge>Victoria using Stalybridge > Hebden Bridge via Huddersfield (single, break at HUD) and a single Hebden Bridge/Rochdale.

Think the day ranger would save me about a pound! Can I buy this online or is it just at a station, and can I use an ATM? Or is there a cheaper way (eg Stalybridge>Brighouse then Brighouse>Rochdale)?

I just buy it on the day. You can buy them from Northern TVMs, they're in the rovers and rangers menu.

If you have a GM (zonal) bus/train pass, it should be valid as far as Greenfield on the way out, even on non-stopping trains and similarly from Littleborough on the way back. So a Greenfield->Huddersfield single at £7.90, a Huddersfield->Hebden Bridge single at £4.50 and a Hebden Bridge->Littleborough single at £3.95. Total £16.35 after the railcard discount.

Splitting at Brighouse would total £15.20 after railcard discount has been applied (Greenfield to Brighouse at £8.70 and then Brighouse to Littleborough at £6.50.

The South Pennines Day ranger is slightly more expensive at £20.75, this price again with railcard discount.

Can anyone suggest a better option? Might an Off Peak Return from Manchester Stns ->Brighouse at £12.65 be a possibility?

One I know of as I have uded it is the Freedom of the North East.
As far as I know its not valid on Grand Central and Hull trsins, but this wording implies it does!
Nearly got caught out once by getting one of those ToCs with that Rover ticket!

Welcome!

I've pointed this out to Northern recently on the version for the north west but it is still there. I think it probably has a similar problem.

I don't know whether there is a legal basis to rely on the map as it is linked from the official product pages. My unqualified opinion is that it probably has to be as there is no other authority for the product, but I don't know if I'm prepared to risk a penalty fare or worse to find out for sure.

You would not be at risk of a penalty fare as neither Hull Trains or Grand Central operate a penalty fare scheme, and both allow tickets to be purchased on board their services.

Fair point, there's little jeopardy on the North East Rover. On the North West Rover however East Midlands might take a different view. They are not listed as a participating operator however there is that same text on the Northern Map and Northern own the product.

THey could argue I should know its not valid as there is a list on the wevsite that says who its valid on or not... but I could also argue the map says it is and thats also linked on the page!
I have no doubt there are some other maps that say "all ToCs" when its not, just I knew about the NE one as I have used it!
