As a west Wales resident I’m delighted we will get a direct service to an airport (via the bus connection). I’ve always been slightly envious that every community along the Cambrian with a station, no matter how small, gets a direct service to a large airport and those on the west Wales lines didn’t! I’m curious as to what the fare difference may be, GWR always seem to charge a premium to use their trains (even though the IETs seats and levels of overcrowding on some services mean a worse experience than TfW) or that TfW do better fare deals, so I would wonder if Cardiff - Bristol would be cheaper on TfW.
I do have a memory of there being direct Bristol - west Wales services in the '90s, I’m sure I stood at Temple Meads and got a direct train to Tenby.
