Hi all,

I have booked tickets travelling with Avanti on service 1H02 between Nuneaton and Manchester Piccadilly tomorrow morning (24-07-2026) departing Nuneaton at 0710.

I have a 1st Advance Day Single between Nuneaton and Stockport and a Anytime Day Single between Stockport and Manchester Piccadilly.

I have received e-mails from Avanti stating that 1H02 (0608 from Euston) has been cancelled and the Avanti app is advising me that the first direct service from Nuneaton to Manchester Piccadilly won't arrive at Manchester Piccadilly until 1019 (0910 from Nuneaton). 1H02 is showing as running on RTT. It was cancelled not long after I booked the tickets.

Would I be able to travel on a connecting London Northwestern Railway service between Nuneaton and, for example, Crewe, changing to an Avanti service at Crewe?) For example, the 0555 London Northwestern Railway Nuneaton to Crewe and then the 0708 Avanti Crewe to Manchester Piccadilly?

Should I just stick with the 0910 Avanti from Nuneaton? Is this really the first direct train of the day calling at intermediate stops on the Trent Valley? What are the chances of the 0910 service being cancelled as well? Is it likely to be very busy?

I tried to contact Avanti via X (Twitter) but apparantly you have to pay a subscription now to post a longer message.

Any suggestions and advice gratefully appriciated.

Is there not an Avanti service at 08:08? Scratch that. Cancelled too.

I managed to contact Avanti using X / Twitter using the chat function and to be fair they replied within a couple of minutes only to say that they won't know about ticket acceptance until tomorrow morning which is helpful because if I'm travelling on the 0555 LNR to Crewe I'll need to be leaving home at 0520 by Uber as there won't be any buses.

I think suggestions need to understand whether you need to be in Manchester for a specific time or are you flexible?

Thank you for the replies. To clarify, I don't need to be in Manchester for a specific time (I really feel for anyone who does need to be in Manchester early) I just like to have everything planned out beforehand. I was hoping to spend as much of the day as possible in the centre of Manchester as I haven't spent much time there before (I'm on a railtour on Saturday). Hopefully, ticket acceptance (or otherwise) will be decided earlier in the morning rather than later and I will make the decision to try for the 0555 LNR with the change at Crewe or seeing if Avanti will accept my tickets on the 0910 direct from Nuneaton to Manchester.

I'd catch the later train and claim Delay Repay.

They will accept your tickets on the 0910 no issue, they are bound by the rules to do it

Technically, you can take the 2 previous trains and the 2 next trains if your train is cancelled, whether it applies to connecting service is unknown but I would doubt you’d get pushback anyways
