Because I wrote the post on 17th July 11 pm
Thanks, that's how I understood your post, but someone else thought differently (in post #22).

I think the long delay to the connection would have been very annoying and frustrating, being stuck at St Erth for several hours in an evening is far from ideal. The fact that the 21:44 eventually ran, although an hour late and behind the sleeper, doesn't take anything away from that.

It didn’t, I’m sure of it.OMG THEY ATE LYING. I just checked Trainline and it shows that all the trains actually ran from St Erth to Plymouth. None of them did!!! Can you please let me know where you checked that the trains actually ran ?
Although you are incorrect about this, it doesn’t matter because you can still claim the delay repay you are entitled to and the cost of food as explained above.

Go ahead and nice make those claims is my advice.

If either is unsuccessful come back here so people can advise on your next steps eg via Rail Ombudsman.

As asked but I don’t think answered, have you claimed back your unused ticket on national express on the basis they didn’t provide the service at the time it was advertised and thus you could not use it.

Hi, I’m still on holiday so yet to claim the national express ones. Regarding the trains, I PROMISE, there were no trains. I was on the platform for 4 hours - the only train that was available was the sleeper one I’d mentioned to London Paddington. Something fishy happened and I think I might ask r/LegalAdviceUK for advice regarding small claims court.

Will update this thread once I’m done with my holiday.

NO this train never came though ? The 21:44 one was cancelled - I don’t know why trackers show it ran. Where did you check this ?

As has been said several times, it ran but only  after you'd left St Erth on the sleeper. It's shown on Realtime Trains, as per my post #9 and the link from post #31. Post #20 is by the owner of Realtime Trains who has access to the industry systems that provide its information.

The fact that it ran doesn't affect your claim to GWR at all, since it was behind the sleeper that took you to Plymouth.

Can you explain to us how you know no trains came through or stopped at the station at St Erth AFTER you left St Erth on the sleeper train towards London? Given you were not at St Erth because you were on a train towards London en route to Plymouth aiui.

Because as I read it this is what people here are saying happened. No one is disputing your point that there were no trains during the period you were there. The train operated after you left St Erth.

If you are disputing this information because you read it on Trainline that a train was cancelled then you need to believe what people are saying here about Trainline which is that it is not a 100% reliable source of info (which I suspect is also why people here don’t use it, because they know it’s not reliable and they are experts in this sort of matter).

As an aside. Don’t let being on holiday miss your ability to claim anything you are entitled to be that claiming from GWR and National Express.
Check their time windows and claim deadlines.

This is RTT's record of the train that should have left St Erth at 21:44, but actually called almost an hour later (and 15 minutes after the sleeper had left). It arrived at Plymouth at 00:46. That page shows the unit that operated it, and the times at each station call.

We know! That is what you are being told over and over and over again:

Just to add a little more info', according to RTT the 21:44 to Plymouth did run, albeit almost an hour late and leaving St Erth a quarter of an hour behind the sleeper.

If you were on the sleeper, how do you know there wasn't a train later?

Ah yes. The 21.35 train from Penzance, that ran 61 minutes late

It was an hour late so ran AFTER the train that you got on (the Sleeper). So you wouldn't have seen it at St Erth.

2135 GWR service to Plymouth departed 61 minutes late (2236).
2145 GWR service (Night Riveria) to London departed 26 minutes late (2211).

as you've been told, it ran after the sleeper picked you up.

Nothing fishy happened, you're just not reading what people are telling you.

For the umpteenth time in the thread, it came AFTER you got on the sleeper.

You had *left* St Erth by the time that train arrived.

Out of interest is there a way for a OP to verify after the event that their National Express coach ran so late?

Bustimes.org?

Edit:
I just checked the aforementioned website for that night, the coach appears to have departed from St Erth Station at ~23:19, arriving at Plymouth Coach Station at ~02:41 Saturday morning.

How do check for tracking data for a previous date on bustimes.org please? @Trainguy34 Thanks!

The final sentence of post #1, posted at 00:13 this morning (Sat 18th), says "we [will] reach Plymouth (...) after midnight". Why would that be written in future tense if it was some days ago?
Apologies. No idea why I misread the date.

Thanks all. Apologies, I was mistaken. The 21:44 train from St Erth did run after all.

No problems, glad we're all on the same page now

The OP should definitely go for full delay repay, based on intended and actual arrival times at Plymouth, plus reimbursement of the cost of refreshments consumed during the long wait.

And pursue the bus company for a refund separately
