Not likely to be used in any useful capacity for some time based upon the information provided to me. I aren’t sure if the details that I heard are accurate or not so won’t repeat them on here.Is anything actually going to happen with that one, as it seems to have just been taken down to Penzance, and nothing has happened with it?
I.ve updated this list from youtube and face book.

I'd think that the units sent straight from Ely were picked as probably the most reliable / least unreliable ones.Am I right in assuming that the units straight from Ely and not been touched by Wolverton, in the majority, have been used the most and been more reliable or have I not been keeping up well enough ?
"Reliable" with a pinch of salt !
Have the units through Wolverton been more problematic and if so why ?
Thoughts anyone ?
A 5 car 158 won't operate to Barnstaple, it would be local door only at every station bar Barnstaple and Crediton! Also, the morning Barnstaple's are dead now that college has finished.Same 175 units be used on same diagrams so consistency seems to be working. Still a a 150 working 2P05.
"Devon Metro" been really good this week although an opportunity seems to have been missed with 2 car 158 working Okehampton when it could have been attached to a 3 car 158 to work Barnstaple 0722 to mirror a proposed 175 working.
I still think 175s will do Okehampton first to coincide wit Okehampton Interchange opening because they will need the capacity.
Oh goody, nice to see the footnote at the bottom and see the Reading > Bedwyn IETs re-instated at long last!A 5 car 158 won't operate to Barnstaple, it would be local door only at every station bar Barnstaple and Crediton! Also, the morning Barnstaple's are dead now that college has finished.
31st August for Barnstaple/Okehampton first diagram, see attached picture.
What does units mean on the picture?A 5 car 158 won't operate to Barnstaple, it would be local door only at every station bar Barnstaple and Crediton! Also, the morning Barnstaple's are dead now that college has finished.

Presumably the number of serviceable 175s neededWhat does units mean on the picture?
They only need Two for Okehampton and Three for Barnstaple. One (maybe Two in future For Newquay and Five for the mainline. Might need more if doubling up some diagrams.Presumably the number of serviceable 175s needed
Total serviceable units required across the business. They only need Two for Okehampton and Three for Barnstaple. One (maybe Two in future For Newquay and Five for the mainline. Might need more if doubling up some diagrams.
I assume the jump from 16 to 18 with the addition of the last diagram is because at that point an extra spare is deemed necessary rather than that the entire diagram is for a pair of units?Total serviceable units required across the business.

175114 had engines overheating, 175115 also failed at Liskeard due to cab air cooling not working.Due to the length of time being parked up at Ely I would have thought it would have been difficult to decide what a good or bad unit would have been unless it was totally obvious when looking at them that some wouldn`t have been suitable without a lot of attention.
Edit, what`s happened with 114 for it to fail ?
To be fair, most of the time it lost was between stations, so not down to passenger volume. The inability to get the 175s working continues to have knock on effects, it is stopping 158s being transferred to Cardiff-Portsmouth
So getting very short trains like today's 1F14, just a 2car 158, 158767 ( which lost time many stations)
That's the first I've heard of any plans to use the 175s to let 158s go elsewhere. The inability to get the 175s working continues to have knock on effects, it is stopping 158s being transferred to Cardiff-Portsmouth

Am I correct that GWR 150s and/or others don`t have cab air con or air cooling ?
If that is correct do drivers also fail those units if the cab is too hot like they do with units with air con or do they just carry on with the no air con units ?
Although with Exeter college closed for the summer, loadings for morning/evening services which would normally be heavy with students have decreased.Same 175 units be used on same diagrams so consistency seems to be working. Still a a 150 working 2P05.

And only in the cab from which it it being driven. All GWR 150's have cab air con fitted.
They've been modified so that it works at any time. And only in the cab from which it it being driven.
Not that I’ve noticed. Turbos have. They've been modified so that it works at any time.
It's been done because of the quick turnaround on the St Ives line and the cabs not cooling in time if it doesn't operate when keyed out.Not that I’ve noticed. Turbos have.
