Every time Metrocars come out, there’s always a chance that it could be their final run. However, with all the issues the 555s have been having lately, I think it’s highly likely they’ll be out again.

An issue with suspension, apparently. A new problem and not heat-related. Some of the units stopped yesterday are out today so it would appear not to be a major issue.

Running on borrowed time... and doing it well.

"Retired soon" — a phrase the Tyne & Wear Metrocars have been hearing for years. 4041 & 4050 are seen departing Brockley Whins with Running Board 108 on the 08:50 Newcastle Airport – South Hylton service, proving that the old fleet still has a bit of life left yet. With the new Class 555 fleet...

Metrocars 4041 and 4050 are on the green line T107 today originally being on T102 before the service suspension. T121 what was 555031 was replaced by 4068+4081 what where then pulled at South Shields for a fault so we only have 1 set out as of now.

All my information i get comes from the amazing server im in - Metrowatch. If it wasnt for the members in there all helping checking all the trains running we would never know if there are metrocars out. The members in there are wonderful and helpful to others.

I saw them (41 & 50) going north at Seaburn this afternoon from the opposite platform - nearly brought a tear to my eyes. There were folks sitting in them, blissfully unaware of the significance...

Fascinating to see that the Metrocars are still running.

Me and my girlfriend (both railfans from the continent) will be in the UK for a few days in the middle of August, hopefully the old trains will do some surprise trips by then. It might be worth for us to go up North for a day.
