RST Online - the worst!

Has anyone here had a positive experience with RST Online?

I am writing this thread as I, yet again, have to contact customer support because their/National Rail's systems are so unbelievably poor.

Having had this issue repeatedly, it got me thinking that is there anyone out there who has actually had a good experience with their website? Everything from the lack of a mobile friendly website, to the constant log outs when switching from mobile to desktop, the fact that tickets I buy for my smartcard rarely load on to the card on the first go, the list goes on.

You'd think in 2026 they'd have a more user friendly website or app (something like Trainline) and systems that work properly the first time instead of requiring a constant back and forth with customer services who just tell you to do the same thing over and over again, every single time. So infuriating!!

I find it OK tbh. A little outdated, but no real problems.

Only problem I had with it was that there was no online provision for asking for a refund after I bought the wrong ticket, but it was sorted after making a phone call.

I use it regularly and don't have any real issues with it. It's a lot more stable than it was, there were some issues with not being able to input stations in the anywhere to anywhere fields, but not had that problem for a while now.

I think it's a shame staff don't have the choice of an independent retailer for booking PRV-discounted travel.

The usability of the RST Online site seems pretty poor.

I use RST Online regularly and have experienced no issues at all. It's a bit outdated and clunky in appearance at times, but I find it perfectly useable.

I use it [on my laptop, paying with a debit card] to buy priv tickets 2 or 3 times a month, never had a problem. Only difficulty is I have found that if we want to reserve 4 seats together for us (2 free passes) and 2 priv grandchildren I have to collect up the tickets and go to a booking office to get someone to do that for us.

I wouldn't have any of the problems of the OP - moving between laptop and mobile, not interfacing with mobile banking etc...!

I use chrome on android and on windows!

I think there must be something wrong my end then as I'm constantly having to refund and repurchase season tickets just to get a ticket loaded on to my smartcard!
I'd clear caches cookies etc, I had issues and that appeared to fix them.

I sometimes find it annoying. But then a quick visit to ba.com makes me think that RST online isn’t that bad. It’s clunky and dated but it works.
