Now Bulmer is added to the timetables but *only* on Saturdays. Looks like buses are running through Terrington instead without stopping for some reason during the week when Bulmer isn't in the timetables.

It's only a temporary diversion, while the road between Sheriff Hutton and Bulmer is closed for a few weeks. Bulmer is shown as stop in both directions on Saturday, and on journeys towards York during the week, which smells like a cock-up rather than a deliberate omission. No additional running time has been given for the longer route, leading to buses running late, but that isn't surprising when it's only a temporary diversion
It's a shame, because I would like to see a regular service via Terrington – it's a bigger village than Bulmer but only gets 2 buses a week to Malton (plus, for the first time this year, a couple of journeys to/from Helmsley on summer Saturdays and Sundays). It wouldn't take much longer to run a couple of 81 journeys each way via Terrington instead of Bulmer and would significantly improve access to/from the village.

As usual, no mention of this division by EY on their website or app...
When Stephensons ran the 181, they also had a 180 that ran via Terrington from York. Although I believe that the 180 was more of a seasonal service? I'd quite like EY to route the X81 via Terrington instead of Bulmer, providing a direct link from York to Yorkshire Lavender which would attract more users to the route than Bulmer.

Yes, the 180 was a summer Sunday only route, and it only ran in 2016 and 2017, so was not a well established route by the time Stephensons closed down.
I find it strange how little provision there has been for Sunday buses to Castle Howard over the years, I would have thought it merited more than just 2 or 3 months in some years but not others – and without a consistent service, it's not going to get the kind of awareness and recognition that really boosts usage.

This year is the first time in quite a few years since Castle Howard has had a Sunday service with the X81. Transdev ran the Castleline direct via the A64 on Sundays during the School Holidays some years.
I believe York Pullman ran some school holiday only coach services from York to Castle Howard on Sundays but I think these had to be booked in advance as well.

Yes, Transdev ran a summer Sunday service (July and August only) via the A64 in 2019 and 2021 only – not in 2020 for obvious reasons! – but then gave up on it without giving it time to get properly established. It would be nice to think that this time it might last a bit longer, and having it run for 4 months and be complemented by Moorsbus services from Helmsley, there might be a better chance of it gaining some traction now.

Seeing as the X81 issues and accepts Moors Rover tickets, I'd like to see it added to the Moorsbus network map in the same way as the 28 and 31X to show the possible connectivity in Castle Howard and promote the service a bit more.

Strange. 21005 is tracking on the 73 today, I doubt it's a Levante operating it. Either YX63 LLM has been assigned its ticket machine or its an error.

Well they'll likely notice the downgrade in the interior of the buses. Going from EastRider spec to dealer stock will be quite noticeable.

The flip side is why these vehicles are arriving. Your bus turning up when the current ones aren't reliable enough will also be noticeable and is more important.

Well yes but if they aren't much more reliable then it really is a downgrade... Their interior will likely be an improvement over the Gemini 2s and EvoSetis though.

And that quote was what I was alluding to.
An uncorroborated statement that refers to drivers having unspecified problems to/from Silverstone ... The vehicles haven't entered day to day service yet, but they're being written off by some as unreliable!
This is not directed at you but to other posters.. A more measured approach would be for everyone to sit and wait to see what happens.

I hope they enter service soon though. If they are reliable its a win for reliability albeit with a worse interior but I think passengers will appreciate the former over the latter. If they suffer the same issues as the current MMCs, well then we're back to square one but with buses that aren't EastRider spec.
I really hope that these issues experienced to/from Silverstone are just some teething problems and not long term. The X46 needs reliable buses desperately.
