Could Delay Repay be paid instantly at a station?

Right now the process for claiming is long winded and slow, so how about allowing you to claim at any station in the country within 14 days of a delay. You would go to the station, state which day and time your train was delayed, and if confirmed you receive an instant payment

Not a bad idea. It would certainly make things easier for those who don't use the online options. I think this should go hand in hand with simplifying/speeding up the digital options though (not every station is staffed and the idea of visiting a station for ticketing/admin feels old fashioned to some people).

I think this would cause more problems than it solved.

There are easy delay repay cases, but there are also disputed cases. Having those disputes play out in person with ticket office staff would likely not be good for the sanity of either the ticket office staff or the passengers queuing up behind the passenger with the dispute.

And many stations aren't staffed at all.

I believe this was a proposal at one time, might have even made it into franchise agreements. I don't believe it was ever implemented.

Ticket offices seem to be doing less all the time. Semi-frequently, you hear of cases on here where ticket offices won't refund tickets bought at that station, even from that window, with them directing you to apply via customer relations.
