London to Eastbourne if route via Lewes disrupted

I need to travel from London to Eastbourne and back for the tennis tomorrow. I see the Southern route via Lewes is severely disrupted this evening.
Is there ticket acceptance via any other route under those circumstances? Southern just seems to have put out a blanket don't travel notice.

Two possible alternatives if you reckon that you really do have to go to the tennis. Travel by rail to Eastbourne but via Hastings. Or by rail to Brighton then bus (#12) to Eastbourne. Not sure whether there'll be ticket acceptance or how much extra you'll have to pay.

There is ticket acceptance on Brighton & Hove Buses due to this evening's disruption. It is very unusual for this not to be applied. The bus you should ideally be using is the 12X, as it's limited stop, from outside Brighton or Eastbourne stations.

One other possible alternative is maybe Metrobus #500 which links each of Gatwick Airport (South terminal), East Grinstead and Uckfield with Eastbourne, but it only runs hourly and you'd be spending quite a lot of time on a service bus in warm conditions.

If going by the bus allow plenty of time. There's permanent road works at Exceat Bridge (between Seaford & Eastbourne) replacing the bridge. I went through on Monday and the queues were over a mile long. Arrival in Eastbourne was 35 mins late

There also seems to be ticket acceptance on SE via Hastings.

@EUC. Some delays on Southern services from London Victoria to Eastbourne today. How did you get on, getting there? Play at the Lexus Eastbourne Open started at 11.00 a.m. today, I believe.

No real issues, but maybe 10 minutes late each way due to line speed restrictions. Nothing like the system meltdown on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
