I was driving at the time, but I am pretty certain I saw 60065 crossing the Tyne Tunnel bridge yesterday afternoon. TugTracker listed this as in storage at Toton with a engine shutdown defect. Any ideas what it was doing up near Tyne Dock?

Only thing it can be is the above. Not sure if a 60 has been down to Tyne Dock itself, normally 66s these days.

Thanks guys. It was deffo a 60, and I am pretty sure on the number, and as per the thread you mention, it was in EWS livery. It was running light, with no wagons when I saw it.

Cheers again

Yep, that makes sense, as the Jarrow oil workings, formed of 28 TEA bogie tank wagons, are "tripped" from Tyne Yard to Jarrow Oil Terminal, adjacent to the south end of the Tyne Tunnel, in two portions due to the limited length of the sidings at the oil terminal. The 60 runs light engine back to Tyne Yard after depositing the first portion in order to collect the second portion.
