Morning - does anyone know which loco is pulling the Scarborough Spa Express today. Is it LMS Class 5MT 4-6-0 No 45407?

Didn't Scots Guardsman drop a pin at Outwood (or was it Hunslet :?:) last week? Anyway Oliver Cromwell put in a good performance, yours truly enjoying a window bash all the way from Wakefield Kirkgate to Scarborough and back. :D

46115 failed at Hunslet on 18th August. Just as well it wasn't Outwood, sitting there for a couple of hours would have caused even more chaos.
Yesterday (30th August) we had the fun of some parallel running between York and Church Fenton as 44932 was returning to Carnforth with a couple of coaches. That was a novel experience!

Yes I was in York at the time the train had been rescued by a class, but when I saw it in the platform I had no idea what was going on, but after speaking to a couple of the passengers and the guard, I learned how the steam loco broke down, and didn't even leave York station until around 4pm that day. It might explain why many of the trains through York were running late as well, as it would presumably have blocked the line when it did break dow, and when it was in York it was sat in one of the mainline platforms. :|

It sounds like though most people gave up and went home from York anyway. Not surprised there. ;)

Nice shot, a mate of mine was gutted as his camera just ran out of space before he could record it fully. I wish I was there when that happened.

The Scot failed blocking the up line between Leeds and Woodlesford so wouldn't have affected trains running to York.
I gather that quite a few travelled through to Scarborough and had about two hours there before an 18:55 departure. Thanks to some very fast running with the Class 37, I'm told that the train wasn't all that late returning to York.
