Hi all, stumbled across this and thought it could be of interest to some people.

Sorry I couldn' copy and paste as it takes you to a pdf file. If it is still active there will be a link at the top of the page.

Good luck to all those who apply

Yes the only thing I saw was for Peterborough, but that's for qualified drivers.

The quality of adverts heavy haul and Freightliner in particular are extremely poor, no salary, very very few actual details of the role being advertised.

Maybe they should have a look at their adverts, and think whether they’d recruit someone who the same level of interest in their application.

The postcode quoted, to be within hour of is near Leighton, just off A361 about halfway between Shepton Mallet and Frome.

Holding a manual driving licence might catch some out, whilst 15 years ago only 6% of driving tests were in automatics, has since risen to about 29% and rising, so nowadays quite old fashioned to still require manual licence.

Their vans will all be manual, which is why its required

Ok, hadn't thought of organisations still using non-electric vans, obviously not into modern climate friendly policies then.
Fleet vans are still by and large diesel, across the vast majority of industries, not just this one FOC.

Mainly as they're chepaer and offer greater flexibility.

And almost all are manual, as again, its cheaper.

HH only use vans for mobile shunters generally. They have pool cars allocated to their depots for driver use, all manual boxes and usually petrol engined. Drivers have their own fuel cards to use on the fleet rather than each pool car having its own card.

Thanks for the clarification. Same principle applies for fleet/pool cars as vans. Manual petrol cars are cheap, plentiful and everyone can drive them

Did anyone hear anything back? I filled in the initial application and then was met with a screen asking me if I'd like to create my own Survey.

I have applied for this, trouble is have is. I am in talent pool with gwr. So they have invited me for enhanced tests. Vse and sit judgment to do within 2 days. However it said cus its enhanced I might have to resit the other tests if I haven't scored high enough and if I fail it supersedes my first score that iv got that im already in talent pool so would that mean if i fail it im out the talent pool?

Unfortunately, it poses the risk that you could lose your "pass" status and be removed

Thanks for your reply. What about if I do the vse and sit judgement. Do these count towards my already pass?
Unfortunately I'm not sure tbh, I have never done enhanced tests so can't comment

All I know is if you have passed, if you retake them and fail, you lose your initial pass

So i asked the question about doing the vse and sit judge if i took these extra tests and fail does it take my pass and she said no cus gwr uses standard. Cuz if you think abiut it iv already got the pass. Im trying at yhe enhanced but these are two tests that are not used for standard therefore dont count towards it. Does that make sense to you?

Just to note Heavy Haul are recruiting for trainee drivers for Mendip & Tunstead
I've seen thay they're recruiting for Mendip on their website but can't find any information anywhere for Tunstead which is the location that I would personally be interested in. If you've got a link for it it'd be much appreciated!!

In terms of maps for reference. The closest area for Mendip is East Cranmore. The closest for Tunstead is Buxton.

Landor Street Birmingham will now be Freightliner, not Heavy Haul Rail.

Heavy Haul rail has a depot at Rugby. But they are not recruiting now.
