South Yorkshire People's Network. Rollout updates

I've started this thread to record the visible implementation of the forthcoming South Yorkshire People's Network.
My first sight of the new world order has appeared in Doncaster in the shape of a bright orange next bus display on York Rd.
The orange colour really stands out, when the buses, trams and infrastructure start to appear in quantity it's really going to make an impact

Great idea for a thread - I might suggest retitling it to something like "South Yorkshire People's Network - Rollout Updates" - just to make it a bit more specific and easy to find by searching later?

Rockingham Street bus stop in Sheffield has had the new branding applied, bizarrely only to one of the three shelters but I'm sure the other two will follow at some point. I'll see if I can grab a picture when I go through later.

Nearby at City Hall there is also some SYPN branding but I think this a one-off promotional design.

I like these e-paper displays, these appear to be the same model as those used on the Luton/Dunstable busway.

On Saturday I noticed there’s a SYPT branded bus stop on Rockingham Street in Sheffield, I was passing on the 51 route and didn’t manage a photo, but it caught my eye with the orange theme.

As promised, a few photos of the newly rebranded stops in Sheffield:

(1) The promotional messaging that has been applied at City Hall
(2) The geometric orange vinyl pattern that has been applied at Rockingham Street RS3, which looks rather odd as they've done it without removing the previous TSY blue which is clearly there underneath
(3) The new list of route numbers at Rockingham Street RS3, which I think looks really clear and professional, as contrasted with....
(4) The previous TSY standard for the route number list, see here at nearby Charles Street... IMO it looks awful, with all the visual flare of a typical Tesco reduced to clear sticker, so I'm glad a proper replacement has been designed

Yes your right looks impressive. Only seen the 'e timetables ' in London
(though still think the name is naff)

I like the bold orange identity and think it could look really good (compared to other Yorkshire proposals ) and distinctive. However, these first few instances look a bit half baked IMO. Putting the orange identity over the top of the blue looks a bit naff TBH, and it would've been better if they'd changed the bus stop flag too.

As I say, I think it can (and will) look good when they do start rolling it out properly but the "new offering" as we've seen it looks a bit piecemeal and inconsistent.

Presumably the tram-trains will become reliveried soon, but are there plans to relivery the siemens-duewag supertram fleet? I know SYMCA is looking at replacing them, but that's unlikely to happen for around a decade. They'd look out of place if all the other transport vehicles go orange, even if the alternative may not be the best financial decision.

Probably to do with a promotion at Tramlines this weekend in Hillsborough. It is the same style as 11709 with Stagecoach with it having covered windows

With franchise bidding well underway, I thought South Yorkshire deserves its own franchising thread.

It appears procurement of buses has finally been selected, with Wrightbus awarded contracts for Electric Double-Decks and Pelican (Yutong) Electric Single-Decks.

6 operators (although who they are is unknown) are through to the final stage of the first phase for Olive Grove and Doncaster. It’s important to note they can only win one of the two.

Work has started on the upgrade of Leger Way depot in Doncaster. All of the remaining parts of the former Doncaster Corporation depot have been demolished and a large number of the fleet are now parked overnight in the former driving test centre at the junction of Leicester Avenue and Shaftesbury Avenue.

Hopefully Sunday services will improve dramatically, the number 2 between Sheffield and Barnsley only runs every two and a half hours, a few years ago the 2 then the 265 ran every 30 minutes on weekdays and every hours on Sundays It would be nice if they brought back the supertram link...
