Hi all, can someone tell me the numbers of the 153s that are AT01, 02 etc? Thanks. RTT only give the AT numbers and not the unit numbers.

Just found on the forum that
AT01 is 153507 & 362,
AT02 is 153528 & 353
AT03 is 153531 & 303
AT04 is 153552 & 382
AT05 is 153572 & 318
AT06 is 153568 & 327
are these still correct please? Thanks
Any news on AT04? Last reported as one car being long-term resident of Crewe, with the other half at Cardiff.

Many thanks

AT04 was out with 153552+153382 on 18/05/2026, as well as the couple of days before that, for the first time in ages. I travelled on it when it was working the 1135 (or something like that) from Shrewsbury down the HoW :)

was roving around Wales this last week and didn't connect with this set so maybe at Canton all week?
That was AT05. Last used as far as l know on 16/6. All the sets have been in use sporadically. Set AT06 has been split at Canton for ages - don't know what's the matter with it.

Thanks for Confirming - I did record 153568 from AT06 on it's own outside CF when passing

I do wonder what the point of the AT sets are for anything other than fancy bike storage. Unlike the ScotRail 153s which by floor space is mostly bikes, they seem to just be at standard 153s with more comfortable seating and some bike spaces... although it can't be more then the vestibule bike spaces the SR 156s have.

In addition, I think the TrainFX files they have mis-assigned Shrewsbury in the announcement database with some message about event overcrowding in both Welsh and English...

Transcript: "We are now at... Dolau. This train is for... Due to an upcoming event, our trains may be busier than usual. To check your journey, please visit our website, tfwrail.wales."

It's a long time since I've been on a 156, but I don't remember any of them having 50% of a carriage dedicated to cycle storage - the active travel 153s have 10 additional cycle spaces

That's exactly what they are for, fancy (or additional) bike storage. It's the difference between fitting 2-4 bikes on a HOWL service and fitting 10-12 bikes.
The bike space is actually quite large

I wonder why they still haven't fixed that? They've been doing that for at least about a year.
