37218 has arrived.
No lie in for me on Saturday then!
37403 is in desperate need of an overhaul, which is why there’s a push on to get 37025 out to replace it.Mildly off topic, but still related: Why do the SRPS seem hell-bent on pushing out 025 before she's ready?
First she was said to run a railtour up to Kyle of Lochalsh and was pulled out last minute.
Then she was said to be attending their 2026 Diesel Gala in May, also pulled out last minute.
Then allocated to the Return Syphon railtour, and replaced with 403 last minute.
Finally and obviously slated to appear at the KWVR gala, and... pulled out last minute.
I'd much rather they spent some time ironing out every crease and running plenty of tests before coming out and proudly exclaiming "The Stag returns!" only to come back a few days before the event and dash everyone's hopes
Was the first gala ive been to today so i didn’t know what the standards were. Absolute pleasure may do next years. Probably nothing and normal but something did seem to happen at Damems with the Deltic at around 2.30pmJust got back from first day at the diesel gala, was busy for a first day with locomotives working hard especially 37218. Everything ran smoothly as far as l could asertain with staff and travellers all friendly.
Amongst one the best galas l have attended. I loved the stations and the history it has made.
Assume it's to do with the braking system as it's been swapped specifically to work the air brakes set rather than vacuum.47715 and 55009 have swapped diagrams today (Friday). Hopefully the fault with the Deltic isn’t too serious!
Yes, although it is working with the suburban set, which I thought was vacuum only!Assume it's to do with the braking system as it's been swapped specifically to work the air brakes set rather than vacuum.

I do recall the oil being visible much earlier in the day at Keighley (around 9:55 according to the time of the photos on my phone), wish I could’ve gone on 37218 but I had gone to tick some NR stations by the time that was out and running. 50049 and the two 31s sounded glorious to meThere was some oil visible on the roof and side of 55009 when the train (1405 Oxenhope-Keighley) arrived at Ingrow West. But that was my last, and only late, train of the day, which in every way was excellent. The sound of 37250 and 37218 departing Ingrow West into the tunnel was something else!

Looked good to meIs the 47 poorly? I drove up the valley earlier this morning and happened to see it and it sounded a bit off and there was a lot of clag
It does have a different engine note compared to a 'normal' sound but performed well yesterday. Yes giving plenty of clag.Is the 47 poorly? I drove up the valley earlier this morning and happened to see it and it sounded a bit off and there was a lot of clag

The Deltic arrived with the oil streak down the side l think it's a trademark stain associated with the class.
Deltics are known to spit out oil on occasion, nothing out of the ordinaryThere was some oil visible on the roof and side of 55009 when the train (1405 Oxenhope-Keighley) arrived at Ingrow West. Not sure specifically why, but it is possibly noteworthy that the two paths each have a different operator.Does anyone know which one of these will probably run from keighley

Im not sure why there is 2 paths
Surely it will be 55009 being moved to Nene Valley RailwayNot sure specifically why, but it is possibly noteworthy that the two paths each have a different operator.
Also one is hanson and hall, the other is europheonixAnd they also have different routes between Leeds and Doncaster. One via Methley and Fitzwilliam. The later path goes via Hambleton
Both paths go to the Nene Valley, it’s how they get there that differsSurely it will be 55009 being moved to Nene Valley Railway
I tend to find (at a different heritage line which I volunteer at) that group bookings are often not well aligned to what's happening that day.A very good day at the gala today. Very well attended.
Both 37s were in fine form.
Interesting that they adopted wristband approach to ticketing; it was still normal pieces at the steam gala in the spring.
Just the one niggle - having a coach party of normals turn up on a busy gala Saturday was not good planning. Compounded by staff trying to turf folk out of their seats to make way for them. But it got sorted in the end.
Hopefully 37025 will make it next time.
