The real loss is the downgrade from 6tph to 4 for the local stations.
At least it's going from an even 4 tph and an additional 2 tph to an even 4 tph, rather than trains every ten minutes with two twenty-minute gaps per hour.
As are Chiltern Milton Keynes paths, all beit still in stealth mode (non passenger).
Fourteen minutes to change from Milton Keynes stoppers onto Oxford services at Bletchley, and eighteen minutes the other direction (assuming no southern LNR changes).

It looks like two 15 minute gaps per hour to me?

It's certainly a loss in frequency but the capacity is only needed in the peaks where it is staying at 8tph in some hours (with some skip stopping).

Yes I much prefer the every 15 minutes even interval to an irregular pattern. The Cross City timetable in Birmingham is one that has irritated me no end since it was reduced during the pandemic. I understand the reasons why here but its still a difficult read.

I mean that it's currently two 15 minute gaps per hour with the Rainham services in the other portions, and from December will be near enough four tph, 15 minutes apart.

The £100m electrification between Wigan and Bolton looks set to remain underutilised, with the same Southport to Stalybridge/Oxford Rd Sprinter and unreliable 769 service as pre-electrification. Thoroughly embarrassing for all incompetent bodies involved.

Northern haven been awaiting updates for the new turnback sidings at Salford Central. Due to infrastructure delays in Salford the planned EMUs via Hindley for the December 2026 timetable has been shifted to May 2027.
Salford Crescent Platform 3 will be ready for December 2026 TT but to due to other issues services won't serve the platform till May 2027 timetable.

From May 2027 the following is expected.. keeping the same pattern of 2tph each way.

323s will replace 15* & 769 fleets on the new Wigan North Western to Stalybridge via Bolton Services
15* & 769 fleets will remain on the Southport to Manchester Oxford Road via Bolton Services
The Leeds to Wigan Wallgate has been changed and will start/end at Salford Central
A new Manchester Victoria to Southport via Atherton will take over the old Leeds/Wallgate paths.

Freightliner’s new timetable appears to have the following trains missing:

4M69 Felixstowe to Trafford Park
4M86 Felixstowe to Lawley Street
4M88 Felixstowe to Ditton
4M89 Felixstowe to Ditton

4L41 Garston to Felixstowe
4L86 Trafford Park to Felixstowe
4L90 Trafford Park to Felixstowe

Has the full timetable not been released yet?

Not sure if it's been brought up: but looking at RTT it appears TfW's Bristol paths have been incorporated into the timetable.

Example above.
Is that merely "in the case that" GWR's objection doesn't stand, or does it suggest TfW has won the argument?

Its offered, but there is still going to be tweaking done. Its still in its response phase for operators.

Airport services wouldn't run if they didn't make money, as much as ideologues would like to pretend otherwise.

There IS willingness to pay for dedicated airport services and it would be remiss to not capture it. There is a debate to what the most appropriate level of premium to charge, but the general concept of a premium service is an economically literate one.
Stansted doesn't charge a premium. I've watched what happens at Gatwick. A lot more people get off Southern or Thameslink than Gatwick Express. If the Express were the same price as Southern then more people would use it.

Avanti additions (weekdays):
1205 London Euston - Liverpool Lime Street (replacing London Euston - Crewe)
1407 London Euston - Liverpool Lime Street
1505 Liverpool Lime Street - London Euston
1705 Liverpool Lime Street - London Euston
1929 Chester - London Euston

There are minor timing changes on many other services but nothing significant

Bear in mind that only a proportion of those Southern and Thameslink customers alighting will have come from Central London, there is a lot of business to Gatwick from the Croydon area and obviously TL serves multiple alternate London stations instead of Victoria.

The Victoria to Brighton GatEx's have been retimed from xx29/xx59 to xx00/xx30, and the reinstated Gatwick shuttles leave Victoria at xx13/xx43 and leave Gatwick at xx23/xx53.

A sizeable number will have got on at stations other than Victoria. Stansted Express can’t charge a premium as such as there are no other services for the premium to be “over and above”.

It also depends where those passengers are heading to. Thameslink serves London Bridge & the Elizabeth line at Farringdon, and regular Southern services serve Clapham Junction (interchange with SWR services etc). Even if there was no premium fares some passengers will still not use it as they don't want to head to London Victoria.

Do you know if the 1505 Up will replace the 1529 Crewe - Euston, and retain the stopping pattern?

Would also be interesting to know how many passengers arriving from Gatwick at Victoria by Southern have in fact paid the premium fare, either without realising or, having done so, then discovered that catching a GX entails waiting on a chilly platform for 20 minutes. Less of an issue if the interval is 15 minutes and the next train is always waiting (as either the original GatEx).

Yes it does replace the 1529. Calls at Runcorn (where it becomes a diesel multiple unit), Lichfield Trent Valley and Tamworth

Thank you.

The present Rugby stop in the 1529 might possibly be the reason why the 1514 Manchester - Euston, unlike the other nn.14 departures, does not call at Rugby. Perhaps this will change with the Rugby stop (in the 1505 replacemeny) being removed.

Mentioned earlier that LNWR will be extending Crewe - Stafford, to Birmingham New Street. Penkridge will only be served on Sunday (giving Penkridge 2 trains an hour each way on Sundays), other days the service will run fast between Stafford and Wolverhampton

Stansted does effectively charge a de facto premium as fares from Stanstead Airport are far more expensive than fares from Bishop's Stortford.

The off-peak day singles are £14 vs £21 from Stansted Airport vs Mountfitchet to Liverpool Street (or a more equal £17.70 vs £23 for anytime day singles); to Cambridge, anytime day singles are £13.80 vs £14 with Mountfitchet being cheaper again.

Given that most of the XC Glasgow extensions in the evening go to Polmadie afterwards rather than Craigentinny, does that mean these services are more likely to run in full if the train is late? As the stock then forms morning services.

At the moment, it's common for the Glasgow extension to be cancelled in severe disruption.

Hopefully with a reasonable gap between trains, I could swear in a previous timetable (when Birmingham - Liverpool was only hourly & the Crewe - Stafford service ran to Birmingham via Tame Bridge) Penkridge had 2 trains an hour, but in one direction within 5 minutes of each other.

Will these each be at 2tph also? Or 1tph?

Generally from Penkridge to Birmingham the ex-Liverpool departs 6 minutes later, overtakes and arrives 3 minutes earlier than the ex-Crewe, so effectively 1tph in this direction.

From Birmingham the gaps between departures are 18/42 mins which isn't so bad, with an even 30 min service from Penkridge to Stafford.

Curiously Varamis seemed to have added more WCML paths. Appear to be old DBC postal paths to Warrington or Daventry.
