Does anyone know yet what services the GBR livery 387 172 will be running?

I would imagine it won't run anything until a launch event on the day Southern/Thameslink/Great Northern transfer from Govia to "GBR".

RTT has these down as 172. These are Lovers Walk - Brighton ECS moves for later today. Presumably for a launch event.

After that the unit will probably end up heading down the Coastways.

Saw a 701 in the new GBR livery on Wednesday at Waterloo. Despite being clean and shiny, I think it looked quite trashy and just like a desperate attempt to put red, white and blue on a train. I dread to imagine how some stock will look after a couple of winters treatment on even less suitable stock.
NSE did far better forty years ago.

NSE, now there was a nice livery. Really worked, IMO. Colourful but professional if you know what I mean. I'd also say the same about SWT.

(I'm not judging the GBR livery one way or another though, until I see it actually live on a train).

Personally, I prefer green as a livery base colour, the London Midland was very smart yet durable. NSE was designed to follow the lines of the stock on which it was applied. What I saw on 701 006 just looked like a random string of swiss rolls in their wrappers. I wonder how much of it was a bit of 'Great Britain' flag hugging.

Yeh I agree with the bit on London Midland. I did like the livery, but I thought the really smart bit came with their black station signage. Very modern, very clean. I’d happily see them take some inspiration from that.
