Let's try something that is hopefully easier:

There were two very well known businessmen in partnership during the 1970s to the 1990s. Both were enobled.

First, they set up a greetings card business which bore their names.

After they sold it, it retained their names and they then set up a holding company which became one of the biggest and most successful in the world; it was broken up ahead of the longer lived one of them retiring in the late 1990s..

Who were they?

Everyone has so far named just about every card company except the one in question - and have imaginatively invented quite a few more...

Think of the company name recently associated with a class 50 for the first name...

...and think also of a very well known railway boss for the second name.

You've got the first two letters right, but remember we are looking for a company with two names as the name...

The rail operating company is called 'Hanson & Hall'.....but I'm b*****d if I can remember the second name of the greeting card company! :s
Further clue... there's also a senior snooker player with the same surname as the high profile railway boss - whose empire reaches London...
