Breakfast with Richard Branson - for £2,150

It seems Virgin Trains have only just joined eBay, selling a 30 min one on one breakfast with Sir Richard on board a Super Voyager from Euston to Crewe tomorrow morning, with him travelling to North Wales for a charity event (09:10 most likely). Highest bid was £2,150 with all proceeds going to Cancer Research. Too bad the breakfast they'll enjoy is the inferior Voyager one and not much chance of exclusivity with only 1 First coach (well, 2 x Super Voyager form this service), although I bet the staff will be on their best behaviour .

I wonder if Virgin realise that full PayPal charges still apply for charity listings even though eBay fees are waived. 20p+3.5% of the selling price= £75.25 for PayPal's pockets.

You do. The PayPal fees are charged in full on any eBay charity listing - eBay claim PayPal is a different company so they can't do anything about it (even though eBay own PayPal.) If you do a partial charity listing e.g. 75% then you pay 25% of the eBay fees (listing and final selling fee) and again the PayPal fees in full.

Yes but it's the buyer's choice whether or not PayPal is used. The seller has to accept PayPal in most circumstances. From the buyer's point of view it's cheaper and safer to use PayPal even though from the seller's point of view they get less money if PayPal is used.

Looks like this train just managed to scrape past Castlethorpe before this morning's train fire on the slow!
On time at HHD. Would have been interesting to see how he coped with a 2-hour stoppage that is so common on the WCML...
