Was on 019 yesterday on the 1932 from St Pancras.

It was on diesel the whole way, perhaps something about it going via Manton. There were three doors locked out of service all in a row, and the WiFi wasn't working (the TM announced this). The door between first and standard was broken, as usual, as was one toilet. The engine also seemed to keep stalling and restarting in my carriage too.

Its also noticeable how the 810s slip very easily in wet weather!

My bold.

First world problem I know; but I thought that having this door was a big improvement over the 222s but it is, as you say, usually open.
At least it saves time for passengers walking through the train to find a working toilet :)

Looking at RTT four are out today, 013, 014, 016 and 018.
The troublesome 011 failed before leaving Etches Park going by RTT.

800013 is currently sat at Wellingborough on the up fast on 5Z55. Rear pantograph is bent over backwards hanging over the side of the rear coach.

Oh dear, that can’t be good, go back to Etches under diesel I presume (in due time, when it’s cleared to go…)

I think 810018 and 810019 are running OK too, haven’t seen them fail much as of late, and if so back out by the next day.
I hope they get them all sorted soon. My last four Meridian journies have all had engines not in operation and no air-conditioning in at least carriage.

I wonder whether front pantograph running (ie LNER-style) would be used by exceptional circumstance?

It’s more that if the system detects a damaged panto, will it allow electric running at all even if it were to be under a different (front) panto?

It was still there when I alighted from 1C74 just after 18.00 but, perhaps ominously, there were some Network Rail staff on the Up Fast examining the track around the Wellingborough North Fast to Slow crossover. Perhaps looking for debris.

One does wonder what caused it to happen - and what other damage there may have been.

The whole situation is quite disappointing. It's getting to the point where I'm starting to actively avoid the MML, as I just can't trust it at the moment. Such a fall from where it was a few years ago, when 222s won Golden Spanners, and the service was very reliable.

According to OTT Maps, 5Z55 still (21.15) standing at Wellingborough and the Down Fast is now blocked from Sharnbrook. the latter wasn't the case at 18.00.

The blocks appeared after 1F75 had passed through
It moved around 11pm and now there is a *T3* on the line , I guess to repair the overheads

Totally agree on can't trust the service. Originally booked a 0901 Eurostar but because of the problems, I don't want to risk going down from Derby at around 0500 so have rebooked for previous evening and extra hotel in Belgium. Would originally be quite happy with the 0600 as reliably in around 0735 for E* check in opening. Not now.

810013 returned to Etches under the cover of the night last night as 5Z55, will probably be out for a bit until it gets a new panto, at least they’ll be able to use the new OHLE testing area in Etches on it.

As for some better news, 810006 is back in passenger service since being involved in the fatality a few months back, running the 1B07 flow today.

Obviously a bit late now, but Eurostar will let you move onto a later train if your incoming domestic train is delayed

Most likely is a new nosecone, probably was replaced due to damage in an incident a few months back. Nice pics of the unit by the way.
Standard class end took the damage in the unfortunate incident, this is first class end, but it's probably had a good clean as part of its recuperating
