On weekdays 1V50 is diagrammed to run to Swansea (arr. 2044) and ECS back to Canton (arr. 2231).
1V62 runs to Cardiff (arr. 2155) then ECS to Canton (arr. 2211).

According to TfW, constraints at the depot mean they can't receive 2x Mk4 sets this close together.

Therefore 1V50 is amended to terminate at Cardiff (arr. 1945) rather than Swansea, then ECS to Canton (arr. 2003).

Thank you for the explanation. Surely they need to remove the Swansea working from the timetable if its impossible for it to run due to the constraints at Canton when both sets arrive close together. I think its more annoying they keep putting Swansea in the LTP timetable when there is 0 chance of it running.

Yes and even more frustratingly, they make First Advance tickets available through to Swansea with no intention of running it.

I was at one point excited to discover the 1710 from Crewe goes all the way to Swansea, then booked it to find out it never quite makes it!

I'm interested in what specifically the depot constraints are. As a layperson might assume you can just dump the Mk4 sets on a siding and be done with it, especially if it's their last trip of the day, then they'd be in some form of queue to be processed properly.

You would think there would be something in the system that would stop them selling First Class as far as Swansea - they will only end up doing a refund or partial refund and it doesnt give a great impression to customers.

On a Saturday they manage to run it to Swansea and do the ECS back to Canton and the times look similar to weekdays.

On a Saturday night
There isn’t as many units to service
For Sunday workings,
Like there is during a week night.
