Incident between Crewe and Stockport?

On an AWC northbound (Euston-Glasgow) and we’ve ground to a halt between Crewe and Stockport- incident ahead apparently. Anyone have any info/update?

How is a northbound Euston to Glasgow getting from Crewe to Stoke can I ask? Can imagine the other way round via Alsager?

I’m at Manchester Piccadilly. AWC got here fine (1204 EUS-MAN arrived 4 down) but lots of delays/cancellations on 13 and 14. An Airport-Windermere service has been cut back to Oxford Road.

Emergency services attending an incident around Barrow in Furness supposedly? Not sure how it lines up but seems to be affecting WCML.

The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Bolton and Preston. Whilst they carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed. Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 16:30.

...and Euston - Glasgow trains are being diverted via Wilmslow, Manchester Piccadilly and Bolton today, due to engineering work between Warrington Bank Quay and Wigan North Western.

Perhaps the OP means "Crewe and Stockport" - 1S63 showing "HOLD" at Stockport.

Yes, sadly it was. I got talking to the train manager whilst we were waiting at Stockport for further instructions.

Thanks all for your input. I made it back to Penrith eventually, albeit two or so hours later than planned. Nothing in comparison to what the family of the deceased person must be having to cope with.
