In the coming weeks I'm going to be using the 20:00 ex Liverpool Street upuo Stowmarket on a Saturday which I believe is a scheduled rostered, triple 755 sometimes totalling 11 coaches. I think this is better than a 720, only down side there is no first class on the 755 combo.

That is the booked diagram for triple traction Mon-Sat. Wouldn’t be 1st class if it was a 745/1 either if you look at it that way.

I’d be amazed if it was anything other than GBR | Anglia, except for the Stansted Express which will retain it’s brand.

Which is a really rather difficult brand to put on the trains as they are not dedicated to the route.

Greater Anglia, C2C and Network Rail Anglia have been brought together in a single organisational structure see here:

C2C have practically no overlap with any other services. They are about as close as you can get on the UK mainland to an isolated railway system. Is there really any benefit in merging their management with Greater Anglia/NR Anglia?

They do on a fairly regular basis go to Liverpool Street, crossing Elizabeth line and GA services. Also Network Rail control for Anglia look over this area.

Arguably Merseyrail is more self-contained.

Yes, C2C interact with other rail operations, and this is increasing, with the extension of the GOBLIN to Barking Riverside and intermodal traffic to and from London Gateway and Tilbury.

Anglia as defined by Network Rail is also very self contained: apart from the routes around North London, the only ways in and out are near Royston and near Peterborough.

Joining c2c and GA together could mean that there is more joined up rail replacement bus provision during engineering work for the Southend Victoria/Southminster lines. During One days buses connected Laindon with Billericay/Wickford. Far better than buses all the way to Newbury Park.

Does the GEML still have mirrors/on-platform monitors, which I think the LTS route might still have, for Class 357s to work it? All the newer stock have body-side cameras and in-cab monitors now.
LTS does indeed have on-platform DOO equipment.

Not least from reducing the duplication of back office functions HR, Finance, Training etc.

There are distinct advantages to keeping the train and customer service side locally focussed but it would make no sense to have infrastructure engineering (for example) as a separate entity.

I hope a 357?
Well, I imagine it would either be a 357 (they're undergoing repaints now, and the official line is that the trains will start to be repainted when its their time) or a 720 for the Cambridge South opening.

I forgot about the Cambridge South reopening. That would make sense for a 720 to be done as part of that opening.

I presume c2c will do something for their anniversary of being nationalised at end of July and likely it will be a 720 as a newer unit.

Is there any indication that these changes are leading to job losses?
Job losses within the railway industry are thankfully quite rare. Staff are offered and redeployed elsewhere usually. Under BR it could be quite lucrative to be made redundant from your position. Happened to me twice and were both times I really fell on my feet. That continued throughout privatisation so no reason to think it will be any different under GBR. Unions will fight all the way for each individual.
