GCRN have released their new Website now (a few days late), it looks nice, alongside it also came timings for Scotsman over the coming weeks, still no advertisement of the Reunification Weekend on the 11th/12th July though: https://www.gcrn.co.uk/
Is there a way of determining what steam is allocated to what on the timetables?. Today on the GCR website it showed 2 locos in steam for the services this weekend but timetable works out for only a single needed. I'm sure the old website was clearer on the subject.

No the website doesn't show this on standard operating days sadly. There will be one steam loco used for the passenger services and the second loco will work the footplate experience or goods experience and then drop onto the 1pm first class dining service.

He was presumably referring to needing a diesel loco instead of a support coach, which is a bit of a given.

Support coach is in the sidings in Ruddington at the moment, alongside the support coach for Tornado.
When Scotsman came into GCRN, the diesel was required to lead Scotsman and Tornado from Loughborough to 50-steps as it was deemed unsafe for them to shunt the stock backwards due to a lack of visibility mot likely, and they went in together because it was more convenient.
As for going out, it appears that Scotsman (and maybe Tornado for part of the journey) will be dragged out by HSTs, possibly because Scotsman will need to go North to ELR, so by reversing ends at Loughborough she would be tender first up the mainline, which does not usually happen, especially over long distances.

I got to chat with some of the people in Ruddington who said it’s possible that Tornado may stay put at GCRN for a bit until its next needed, as it is going to Nene Valley in July, so it could well be that only Scotsman is hauled out next week back to NRM.

Support coaches aren't mandatory. But they are very useful to have especially if you're doing more than a short test run. Vintage have operated a fair few Tyseley to Stratford runs without a support coach. Example here with 9600.

Yes, I heard it was 3 of the remaining 4, and that they were quite close to finishing overhaul, truly a shame, couldn’t see them outside today, so must be in the shed being assessed.

Just seen that for the GCR/GCRN ‘Mind the Gap’ weekend there is an activity that you can drive a HST simulator, I cannot seem to see anywhere if it needs pre-booking to prevent overcrowding on it, or whether it’s a ‘turn up and have a go’ thing.
