Does anyone know what was on 5X95 to Bournemouth today which I am guessing was a 458/4?

There seems to be a trickle of units going to Bournemouth which have not returned as far as I know. 5X95 also ran on the 1st May which may have been 458419. The same STP path has been loaded for tomorrow, although of course it may not run. I just wondered if these were units going for repairs or in to warm store as mentioned a few weeks ago.

At the death of the old timetable, 458405 returned to service after just shy of 3 months out of service

I think that leaves just 458410 as long term out of service although that does not take account of those that may have been placed in to warm store.

Have you found out anything about 458419 and/or 458416. Nothing has returned from Bournemouth TMD lately. Afar as I know there are at 5 units there, 159019, 458422, 458425 and 701006 and 1 unidentified unit (Most likely a 458/4).

Thanks in advance.

No but 458419 was last in service on 30.04.26 the day before 5X95 ran to Bournemouth which could just be a coincidence. 458416 was last in service 24.04.26. Neither appeared to have failed in service and so must have been stopped on Wimbledon Park. Aside from the previously mentioned 458410, all other 458/4s have been accounted for in May, so if 5X95 was 458 on 1st May then it must have been one or both of 458416 & 458419.

I think you mean 701006 rather than 701032 - the latter is in service and stabled at Waterloo CHS if LRR is correct.

My mistake, must be getting old! I've edited the post.

Interesting, Train Logger is showing a sighting of 458406 at Bournemoth TMD! Another class 159 went there today.

Might be too early, but does anyone know if any 458's are running this weekend? Thanks!
Yes there should be some on the Windsor side as there isn't any major engineering work on that corridor (at least on the Saturday, which is when I'm traveling). Using Real Time Trains on the day to search for allocations will be your best course of action

Talking of RTT and 458s, does anyone know what the purpose of this move may have been?

The current timetable has the 28-strong 458/4 fleet down to 12 unit diagrams (6 pairs) on weekdays and 8 diagrams (4 pairs) on weekends, as per the diagrams on the SWR website.

Does anyone know if the Bournemouth units mentioned earlier in the thread are expected to return to Wimbledon at some point?

The only thing I can note is the result would have been to turn the unit round.

Seems to be an increasing number of 458/4's at Bournemouth TMD. I haven't noticed any returning units for several weeks now!

RTT is not reporting progress.

RTT and LRR do not show the train running if the Q path is not activated, but it may still run nevertheless. I think the same thing initially happened last night with the run of 701006 from Bournemouth. This has set me wondering as to whether last Fridays STP 5X95 from Wimbledon to Bournemouth did in fact run, even though the Q path was not activated. 458406 + 458418 were in service on the Thursday evening, but there have been no reports of either since. Most of the 458s on these recent 5X95 moves to Bournemouth have been in service the day before they go. But this could all just be a coincidence and both may still be at Wimbledon Park?

That would explain the sighting of 485406 at Bournemouth on the 18 May, still leaves the formation of the 1 May movement unknown.

Signalling diagrams show the Friday 15th STP 5X95 path ran. Can't help with what units were on it.

That's the long term plan diagrams. Early this week was 16 unit diagrams (8 pairs) and would expect that to reduce over time.

I think that there are eight, but some are subject to confirmation,

01.05.26 5X95 0915 Wimbledon Park Depot Sdgs to Bournemouth T&R.S.M.D 458419 + 458416 (to be confirmed)
14.05.26 5X95 1217 Wimbledon Park Depot Sdgs to Bournemouth T&R.S.M.D 458425 + 458422 (confirmed)
15.05.26 5X95 1217 Wimbledon Park Depot Sdgs to Bournemouth T&R.S.M.D 458406 + 458418 (458406 confirmed, 458418 to be confirmed)
22.05.26 5X95 1217 Wimbledon Park Depot Sdgs to Bournemouth T&R.S.M.D 458417 + 458411 (confirmed)

If anyone could confirm or contradict my assumptions, it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't normally post very much here but I notice that the first page shows 458401 as stored.
I was at Clspgam Junction this afternoon and saw 458401 coupled to 458424 on 2C43 1448 Waterloo to Reading, confirmed on RTT.
Can anyone confirm that 458401 is back in service.
Regards
