Still waiting for that Email since passing opc in March 2024... they certainly do not rush
I’m guessing you’ve reached out to them and not heard anything back yet.
I can see you’re trying to get in with cross country, did you supersede your CBI with an MMI?

What if you fail at CBI only? Where would that leave you with other applications?
To my understanding if you fail at the CBI you would use up one life across both the CBI & MMI. This is what I was told when I did my CBI.

So you’d still have 2 attempts left given that your first attempt was after December 2024 if your first attempt was before that time however you would only have 1 attempt left.

I finished my Stage 2 OPC tests today (Euston 26). I got through to the CBI. I think it went well. We have 7 to 10 days. If I hear anything I'll update. Best of luck moving forward to all.

Sorry to hear that! Try and take what you can from the experience, and apply it whenever you next get the opportunity to do so :)

It’s a sore one after passing everything else, I had the same outcome 2 years ago but with different TOC. Thought I had passed the MMI , it was a shock , it still is tbh

The OPC let me know I passed the CBI, took the tests and interview on Monday if it helps with anyone else waiting with the timing. It was a really weird experience to be honest and I had no idea how it went when I left the building.

What is your position now?
Applying again but it’s only talent pool positions for now , I feel that was my chance in 2024 to get in, they told us at the assessment centre if you passed then you would be on the course in no time, they pretty much recruited constantly for over a year, and now I’ve heard all depots are pretty much full

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear. Well you know what to expect next time and you can prepare for it better then the last time. so does that mean you will have to retake all the tests again?

Not sure if this has been asked before… What is the likelihood of Avanti changing from CBI to MMI?

I’ve passed OPC written / computer testing with Avanti but failed the CBI. I have since passed the MMI for a different TOC.

I wouldn’t risk applying for Avanti again if it came up with a risk of failing the CBI again, however if they ever changed to MMI I would hope I wouldn’t need to do it again.

Dont think they've ever done the mmi so I'd say your chances are slim to none on that unfortunately.
Its only valid for a certain time anyway so i very much doubt it would happen before they expired.
If you've passed with another toc are you not pursuing a course with them?

Congratulations on the good news and passing. Also thank you for updating us. Are you sure it was the OPC that let you know? They told me the next person I would hear from would be Avanti and they would then discuss DMI interview dates. Only after hearing from Avanti, I could then contact OPC enquiring about my results. Did you get a DMI interview date? Thank you again.

Yes as Jamziig said, just a short email saying congrats and any further contact will be from Avanti

It doesn't affect the cbi pass so long as pass mmi aswell. I checked with opc prior to it.
Risk was if I failed mmi it would of caused issues but passed them both.

Better to be in both pools, cus I know people waiting 4 years now almost with Avanti, so long time to wait only for them to let tests expire.

Chasing them doesnt seem to get a response by email at least, just get holding email every 6months or so

Hmm you sure thats correct, you cant normally hold a cbi and mmi unless thats changed now? One normally supersedes the other and always has.
If its changed then great but if not you've been given wrong information and your cbi pass with avanti will now be invalid.

From all of the forums I’ve read on here there’s always some conflicting information on whether or not you holding one supersedes the other or not.

I passed my CBI a couple of weeks ago and was told you can’t hold both. The assessor was very insistent on not attempting to go for the MMI saying that you’ll ruin your CBI and chances with AWC if you go for the MMI.

However I love the idea that if you’re successful at each one you can be in both pools!

Pretty sure its correct as the assessor at rcg said it only affects it if fail and I confirmed it with opc on the phone aswell, but if pass it doesnt as pass wont overwrite another pass. He did think it was a risk cus if I failed Id be out of both processes and lose a life.

But I felt confident and not confident Avanti will progress before all my tests expire as they seem to be running qualified driver applications all the time as I guess its cheaper/easier for them at Wolverhampton

Avanti will be the ones to ask, given that it's them you've applied to

Opc facilitate the tests they definitely know but also Avanti said its fine I work in the rail so speak to the dtms pretty regularly as they commute on our trains, but maybe yous all right just gives someone else a spot right
But it is recorded seperate... maybe

After 3 years and still no spaces at the depot people in pool a whole year longer aswell, it probably wont matter either way. I hope it comes through but waiting 5 years for them to just expire is worse than hedging your bets with other tocs imo

hi, ive passed all national standards with avanti but failed at VSE, I was told by the opc if was to re apply after a year I would only sit the VSE (as its an enhanced test) and the pre screening tests like the m7 sjt can anyone confirm if this is the correct info or if I misinterpreted it, and if so what would one recommend, try and reapply or start applying to other TOC's that dont utilise VSE as I dont have a 1 year wait in terms of those TOC's ?
