Was anyone on here at the assessment day down south on the 26th March 25?

Would love to know how many were placed into the pool from the day. Think there was either 15/16 candidates on the day

I still can’t figure out if these new updates are looking well for us on the later assessment days ha

I was on the 10th March and I think there were about 16 of us.

I have a family member on the railway and they were told that apparently there are 15 courses set for next year, however, I'm not hopeful of getting one when I'm only in until March! But I'm holding out!

I heard all the internals on that day have been placed

I think they mean all the people who were already employed by TFW but applied to be a trainee guard have already been assigned courses, essentially it’s just us external candidates waiting for a course.

Ah okay, that makes sense.

I have contacted the recruitment team as my notice period becomes 3 months as of July and I have asked the question about possibility of a course this year following on from the FOI information, but I am not hopeful they will respond.

To clarify, I haven't heard anything yet

I have been offered a place on the July course for Chester I put Chester as my preferred depot after the interview and I think because i am closer to Chester than LLJ i have been called up there instead!

It was the last day of the course for me yesterday for Chester, so a week off and then onto route learning!

Any news? Getting very despondent now!

I’ve emailed a few times and got the same generic response, would be good if TFW were giving us some kind of update every few weeks, I’ve been in the pool since 31st Jan 25 and received one update August last year, I’ve been holding off family booking holidays incase they call, I also need to put in 8 weeks notice before leaving my current job

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Interview 28th Jan 2025. Not had a family holiday, in a temporary job but kept telling myself it would happen soon so still doing temporary job (which is not a great job which is why I attempt to leave 16 months ago ) If only they had given us some initial updates and said expect to wait a min of 12 months..They must have known back then that we would be waiting for a while!

Where have you applied for? I find it very strange that some people from the Jan 25 and March 25 pool have been offered training course and others haven't! It's really frustrating

I applied for rhymney treherbert and Cardiff, but said I’m open to anything within 1 hour of where I live

They told me what month the course was but didn't give me my start date until I had passed the medical

Evening all, does anyone know how Carmarthen is looking for Train Managers ( Conductors )? Are they likely to recruit again for this depot anytime soon do we think? I saw 3 were in the talent pool from the last FOI.

Those waiting for positions on the Cardiff Valleys, you should start to hear from recruitment very shortly.

There are potentially going to be courses from May, with an intake of around 30-40 new conductors.

Quite a few CVL have transferred to the mainline, and numerous others have decided to leave the industry, retire etc.

I've had to sit on my hands to stop emailing them it's been the same response for 17 months now. You'd think they would throw us a bone occasionally
