It's very disappointing that the very latest units to be delivered are still suffering from door faults, the same as the very first units were. Of course, not knowing the technical details, this impression could be wrong, but it looks bad.
however the ‘winglets’ on the seats on the class 810 essentially make them unusable for anyone over 6ft.
I do get the impression that "squashing" the 80x design had knock-on effects on nearly everything, so I wouldn't be surprised if the door mechanism had to be re-jigged because the carriage ends are more compact, and that somehow made it at least quite different and at worst sub-optimal. I'm over 6ft and detest them on Avanti. I'm assuming the 810 is the same seat as the 805/7 ????Disagree. I’m over 6ft and found the winglets very useful!

I think you're right - the 80x Bodyshell tapers in at the ends, so the doors move towards the centre, there isn't enough room between the doors and windows for them to do so on 81x, so they must slide outwards.I believe one stark difference between the 810s and 80x is that the 810 doors slide outwards away from the passenger saloon, whereas the 80x doors slide inwards. helpful to read those insights - thanksBack in the day when I was involved with the commissioning and entry into service of classes 159, 165, 166 and to a lesser extent 465/465, what was often reported as a problem with the doors was simply a catch all description when a failure occurred due to lack of door interlock. I'll say there was never an actual problem with a door. Occasionally one of four microswitches (classes 165/166/465/466) may have become slightly out of adjustment through use and so preventing interlock (although this would commonly be rectified by the train crew carrying out their fault finding procedures and identifying and then locking out the relevant doors which bypassed these microswitches, but with the door now mechanically locked closed). But the most common reason would have been a high resistance on one contact on one of a whole series of relays in the interlock chain. As an aside, one thing that didn't help was the use of an aerosol "contact cleaning spray", which was found to contain silicon (which doesn't conduct electricity very well!). OK to use on 110V circuits but not so good on 24 volts. Needless to say this practice stopped.
I suspect that the 810s door problems lie along these lines or with micro processors.
Interesting this one has gone down as 'MP-Adhesion Problems', with the inbound service (1C68) going from 1E at Kettering North Jn to 7L at Kettering then 10L at Luton, 16L Harpenden Jn and up to 25L at West Hampstead Jn, arriving into London 22L.810015 has also failed in London...
Potentially rubbish has got into the runnerMy personal experience of what was probably a temporary 810 door failure at Kettering (no announcement about the 20' delay or cause was made, so I'm not certain) was that the Hitachi staff member and others spent some time looking intently at the area where the bottom door runner disappears inside the bodywork with the door open. Totally anecdotal I accept but suggests in that specific case an individual door problem rather than control problem.

Happens a lot on the standard 8Xx fleets, bottles etc love to get stuck and caught in the door running gear.That's what I thought - but I wonder whether the particular design of the 810 doors (as mentioned above) make this more likely.
Because of the all-day overcrowding on EMR Intercity each vestibule on 222s are usually occupied by 3 or more people and this habit seems to be spreading to the 810s, even though they have no vestibule tip-up seats. Inevitably, some of those passengers will thoughtlessly discard food wrapping etc.
Because the 222s had plug doors it's much less likely to happen on them.
