The last of the three 7900H buses for the Highland Council arrived on Wednesday. Two will be used for service, and one will be used as a community bus.

Former Number 3 SN13BCY

Former Number 4 SN13BCZ

Former Number 8 SN13BDV
They look very nice in white, it shows off the design more than Lothian's livery did.

Any clue who the operator is?

All the MMCs seem to now be fitted with the new stop announcements and screens. Are the remaining batches with the 2017-2022 system likely to follow suit anytime soon?
Apologies if already covered (it’s a long thread) but why have they changed the system? The old one looks (and sounds) much better, the new one looks like some kind of open source clone of it that’s not quite right.

There’s more info, but it’s harder to read, nothing seems to be on the screen very long before it changes, and the “arriving at” time estimates that come through the speakers are a bit odd - do people find them useful or are they there just because they can?

They can basically set the new one to say anything without having to pre-record so it will be more up to date than the old one particularly with diversions.

I find the arrival times useful personally but maybe not for everyone.

The only gripe I have is that some places are mispronounced like Foun-tain Park as it's spelt rather than Fountin Park how it's meant to be pronounced.

I noticed Atholl Crescent also says Otholl Crescent.

They used to say arrival time to the destination but now it is only certain points as you get close to them.

My gripe is that some buses are so low you can't hear them.

Any updates on fleet additions considering we are quickly approaching the summer?

Ps. I’m aware that there technically isn’t a higher PVR in summer but it wouldn’t be bad to have some extra spares or take some load of some of the older vehicles.

Improved reliability being directly connected to the AVL (automatic vehicle locator) system. It can also display diversions.

There is an image on Facebook of a Kite on a road test before delivery.

I don't have much knowledge of these systems but I've noticed some (actually nearly all) next stop announcements on certain buses nowadays are given when it is too late for the bus to observe the stop should anybody want off as a result of the announcement. If the stop has a long name and the vehicle moving near the speed limit then the announcement doesn't finish until after the bus has passed the stop.

It's very little help unless you know the names of stops immediately before those where you wish to alight.

Unsure if this is a new thing or not - could just be my bad luck but I feel it happens increasingly.

I've noticed this too. They should announce them earlier to allow people to get ready to get off.

Here's the image for anybody wanting to see.
Looks like they are 12.5m so in-between the length of a 7900H and a Evora.
This looks very smart. Thanks for sharing.

The previous system announced them as soon as it detected the bus had left the previous stop. The new system announces it some distance before the stop, irrespective of speed, which I do think is quite odd and I'm surprised it's not been updated yet. A Lothian Country driver commented on this a few months ago and said by the time the stop was announced, the bus had already passed the stop.
