Penistone Line delays 03/05

For anyone planning on travelling between Sheffield and Huddersfield it appears that the line is closed at Shepley on account of an unexploded bomb nearby.

This is easily the most exciting thing to happen since the pacers were retired!

Its possible for services to be split since both Brockholes and Denby Dale have a single platform, will Northern temporarily split the service and busitute the Brockholes to Denby Dale section?

I don't think the line closed. According to Northern trains were not stopping at Shepley. Now appears to be back to normal.

That would actually fit with the announcement especially if the suspect device was the Stocksmoor side of Shepley - the Denby Dale side is briefly twin track and a crossover point and trains regularly linger waiting for their opposite number to arrive.

As an aside, the Penistone is a delightful line to travel on, fabulous views and excellent station pubs at both Huddersfield (2 bars) and Sheffield.

Well worth a trip on it if you’ve never been on it!
