Apparently 3006 Bj12ypp is being refurbished. It has already been repainted into midland red and apparently it’s also being re finished inside too.
Not sure if it’s going back into service or being preserved as it wouldn’t make sense refurbing something that’s apparently going to be withdrawn soon

I'm not sure as to what extent, but it looks like some of the other Citaros have been tidied up a bit over the last few weeks, presentation has improved somewhat.

I have recently noticed an increase of E200 MMCs on the 158 recently, is there a double-decker out of service or is there some other reason for it?

Hinckley should have 6 deckers with generally five used on the 158 with the other one usually allocated on an X84 duty for the school flows.

Previously (as in a couple of weeks ago) the 158 was fully operated by E400MMCs, so has there been a transfer?

4558 left Hinckley for Redcar 2 months ago

Didn't get a very good look at it, but I think I saw an E200MMC in the new darker Journey Mark livery in Belgrave this evening. Bustimes suggests it's 3136

We’re 2 deckers down at the moment, 4554 & 4555 are at Thurmaston at the moment having repairs/services done. I was actually meant to have 4554 on Thursday, but the dash looked like it was trying to impersonate a Christmas tree, so was given 3110 instead, and that was then taken to Thurmaston during the day.

Ah ok, thank you very much.

Maybe it's because I've not seen one 'in the flesh' but in photos I really can't tell that much of a difference...?

Hopefully these pictures (which aren’t mine) help clear it up a little! It’s literally just a darker shade of blue and then of course the new seating too.d4edce70-62d8-4192-86bc-4f507b1a160e.jpeg90c90778-500d-459d-be1b-40728829e4a1.jpeg

I quite like the new seats, but that shade change is so minimal I'm not sure it was worth it - assuming NYH on the left has it and the one to it's right doesn't?

I think the royal blue that they're using on the seats on the paint job would look nice. I always thought that the two toned Sapphire livery looked nice as it had that darker blue/purple hue which contrasted nicely with the turquoise.

The blue is just a couple of shades darker - I’ve read somewhere else (can’t recall where) that they opted for the change as the colour was easier to find/better stocked than the previous shade.

I’d be reluctant for them to go any darker tbh - it’s bad enough having Stagecoach with such a drab colour. Atleast Arriva’s is bright.

Internally looking much better too - that moquette goes well with the current internal spec. Nice mini refresh overall.

Not worth what? It’s a minor tweak that most won’t notice but will ultimately be more durable (they hope).

I’m no fan of the Arriva livery but with vehicles still in Cotswold and Aqua (let alone interurban), another livery isn’t needed.

Isn't worth the repaint. Or are they only repainting old knackered buses with this as they go through their standard re-paints? Didn't this one already have the same livery previously? I'm sure there are older examples of bus that could have gone before this one?

It's just I wouldn't put it past Arriva to repaint a bus that was only repainted last year in a slightly darker shade of blue...

3136 was originally delivered in the old Journey Mark livery when new.

In this case... It's 9 year old so it's gonna have to work for a good few years yet, and don't think it's been repainted since new to Maidstone. In fairness, it's probably due... that's not to excuse vehicles that have gone even longer without seeing a paintbrush.

Agree, maybe those that haven't seen the paintbrush (like the ex-Merseyside ones in Leicester) are probably not being kept.

Looks smarter and a mid-life refurb helps in the long run.

I’d imagine that stuff like 58/09 Pulsars and the Versas have a very limited life ahead of them.
Thurmaston depot have 50+ electric single deckers due this year so they should hopefully see off the older vehicles.

Exactly this. As TheGrandWazoo says, the ex Maidstone MMC’s at 9 years old probably won’t have been repainted yet - so a mid life repaint and internal refresh now is perfectly timed.

If people are expecting to see tons of stock older than 12/13 years to either be repainted or internally refurbished I’d be surprised (especially singles, deckers tend to have a longer life span).

Arriva do seem to be turning a corner so give them a chance to prove a leopard can change its spots. As far as I know, none of the other big groups have a mid-life refresh programme either.

It’ll be interesting to see how far they go with the muted refurbishments - I wouldn’t class what they’ve done with 3136 as that, simply a retrim. But even then, it’s surprising what a difference that can make!

Can't find them now, but one of the bus refurbishment companies posted some photos on Facebook of a Pulsar they had just refurbished and it was a lot more extensive, new wood effect flooring etc.
